Then I think some species may want to evolve in something horribly-tasting really quick.

They'll probably have to grow poisonous. If they just taste horrible, they'll become a much demanded item at chic restaurants.

Not enough. Tetrodotoxine is pretty nasty stuff, but it doesn't stop people from eating puffer fish.

Please pray for my sister, guys. It's my oldest sister. She just called me and told me that she went to see the doctor because she has been feeling crappy lately, and apparently there is a spot on her liver. Tomorrow she's going in for a CT scan or something...
I don't know what it means, and when I googled it I got too freaked out to keep researching. But it looks like it could either be a cancer that has a less than 5% survival rate, or it could be absolutely nothing... or a cyst or just something relatively minor. Like I said, I couldn't handle much research. I'm really worried. :-/ I really hope this is nothing. |

Let's hope it will turn out okay.
But trust me when I say that one should never try to diagnose something using the internet. You will only end up with the worst-case scenarios.

Indeed. I heard a news report advising people not to look up what may be wrong with them on the internet for just that point. It makes doctors waste time convincing their patients they don't have something that they really don't have.
My beef today is that Youtube switched formats and got rid of their "Randomize" button! Stupid Youtube.

Oh, that's scary Tess. I'll pray for her.
Just out of interest: did you look up the chances that it actually is a horrible cancer? Percentages and internet diagnoses can be a bad mix.

Thanks guys... at this point it's looking like it may just be a blood clot, but they wont get actual results for another day or two. I mean... a blood clot isn't great, and she is still in some pain/it's potentially dangerous, but not nearly as serious as it could be.
So hopefully it's just that. |

Say a prayer. I think she gets the results tomorrow. It's probably nothing . But anxiousness is par for the course at this point.

Sounds like we have good news, considering what it could have been. She has a tiny birth defect... apparently some of her blood vessels in her liver are tangled up so she may have internal bleeding and she might need surgery. Apparently it's somewhat common, and it usually never bothers people, but somehow it's being a problem for my sister.
... which doesn't sound so great when I say that, BUT... it's not cancer or the other horrible things it could've been. She's going in for another appointment soon so they can figure out if she's going to need surgery or if they can handle it without any of that. |

That's a relief, at least in the way it is not something horribly lethal.

RAR! I hope that buying a house is generally easier when you a) don't have school and b) have all your records in one household, instead of scattered over two!
I feel like butter scraped over too much bread. Which probably means I'm addicted to something - maybe not a Ring, but something else... like reading books or doing too much stuff for other people. *sigh*

I'm going to have to ask for prayers again. Unfortunately apparently they spoke too soon... that's just a birthmark on her liver (?! I had no idea there was such a thing) so now they have no idea why she's been so tired and in pain. More tests are going to follow.
I have a hunch it might be depression and lack of sleep. That's what I'm hoping it is. She had a problem like this in college, and it was just because of stress and staying up till all hours of the night plus partying too hard. I suspect she is repeating that pattern now as a working adult. I hope that's all it is. |
