I've got to go! It must be great living in a place where you can see both sunrise and sunset over the ocean!

I also remembered a thread I wanted to start! Let's see...

That's right, I didn't even think of that - how cool that would be, to see both sunrise and sunset...
Hey, troll's bane, want some hot cocoa? I'm gonna froth the milk over here with the steamer on the espresso machine, and add Ghirardelli shavings and half a three musketeers bar. Try it; it's awesome with three musketeers bar melted in it.

You're going to Mount Shasta, huh? I've heard from friends that it's fantastic there, great flyfishing and hiking, and I am sure a great venue for nature photography. Take a good camera, troll's bane, maybe we could see pictures of it when you get back.

Definitely! I am also going to have constant use of a raft, which I heard now has a motor. I just ferry up and down the river arms, snapping pics and taking GPS readings.

Okay, Cape Town.

Well, if you were coming to Cape Town you'd have to visit the whole Cape peninsula:

...and the surrounding winelands:

If Johannesburg is the business hub of South Africa (and Africa), then Cape Town is all about style. Virtually every person from JHB who comes down to CT notes an extremely relaxed vibe, perhaps accurately expressed in words as "Dude, it's all good. Heh."

That's not to say it's just a coastal resort town:

No, we don't have lions roaming the streets, or baboon's jumping around on rooftops. For animals, we have a zoo of sorts:

Cape Town is cool. It's definitely the coolest city in SA. I've learnt to appreciate a city with a mountain overlooking it. You don't get too many of them.

It's a beautiful area, I think. If you come to Cape Town in Summer (Dec-Feb), you'll have plenty opportunities to get out and take cool pics. Like these:

We have a large penguin colony at Boulders beach, Lotesse.

Penguins make funny noises. Don't try to pet them. They bite. I've been bitten. Here is a pic of Diana's finger. She said it was painfull, but let's not kid ourselves.

Cape Town is quite expensive. It's probably the most expensive city in SA to live in, but not by much. Jobs are more scarce than in JHB, and housing is more expensive. CT is definitely the main tourist destination of SA. You'll probably want to check out Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela stayed):

And go for some wine tasting at any of the major wine estates.

I reckon you'd get by with a four day crash course of CT. But you'd hate to leave. It's always like that.

Oh, and a quick sunrise pic, from a buddy a month ago.:

And a random pic from another friend:

And here's the other side of Table Mountain that people don't know about:

Thanx for the terrific photos, Anduril. I love the penguin, with the bitten finger! How funny, who'd ever think that penguins bite...
Hi, Grey Wolf! Man, I need some coffee, gonna go over here and brew a pot of Mocha Java.

Yah, yah, here you go - I think I've drunk enough; here I am running the carpet cleaning machine and it's only ten o'clock in the morning.

You're welcome, finish off the pot if you want because I think I'm switching to Heineken at this point. The rug's all clean, and now I wanna walk out to the beach and see what's happening today with the shorebirds. I'll leave a six-pack in the fridge if anybody wants an afternoon beer.

*sigh*
Well, my day is coming! I will only get one more chance to come on for at least a week. But that's okay. I'll missing the moot, but I'll be catching up on all the meals (though hopefully not sleep) that it made me miss.

Well, today was a good day, and I'm exausted. Please understand if I don't reply immediately, because I'm trying to eat.
