6 weeks! So I guess you've got some catching up to do now? *imagines Mari's family suddenly buying ear plugs by the dozen*

Haha, not really. My voice has left me again after working for almost the whole day
So I can't overdo it. Besides, though I can reach the A again, it ain't pretty and not recommended

Mari, don't overdo it. Fifteen minutes of practicing/talking 'too much' can set you back days as far as vocal recovery goes.

I'm guessing more like an A4. As I recall she's a mezzo/altoish from what she's told me before.

I got my new car today... I wanted to get it all taken care of before I have to leave on choir tour next week, and I did! My parents kept saying, "Now, Anthony, you never actually get a car and leave the lot with it all in the same day, the best we can expect is to maybe find something to come back and close on later."

Right. Because the last eight cars we bought were NOTHING like walking in one day and walking out four hours later with the car. Oh, wait, yes they were. -_- I didn't point that out, but I knew if I worked it right I could get everything taken care of.

SO... I have what is for sure the nicest car I have EVER driven before. It's SUPER quiet inside the cabin, the seats are extremely comfortable, it has a thing for me to plug my iPod into (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), the seat gives my legs more room than my old car, it steers MUCH more tightly than any other car I've ever driven (including my parents'), and it's just such a great car. I was terrified to test drive it at first, because (IMO) it's actually even nicer than my parents' cars.

It was about 9k, so my putting down 3k of my own money really brought the monthly price down, and my parents are going to cover the monthly payments (thank God).... I lucked out hugely. Not only are they going to pay for 2/3rds of the car, it's a WONDERFUL car, and it's a 2007 so it's just... way nicer than my 2003 was.

It's a Kia... something or other. Spectra? I think it's a spectra. I mean it's not a ritzy expensive car, but it's VERY nice. I really like it, and I'm so lucky to have it. I'm just overall lucky that I had the 3k sitting in my account that we could use for the down payment... AND, the best part is that it's going to go on my credit rating (I'm the co-buyer, with my dad as the primary owner) so I'll hopefully be able to start building up a good credit report (since my parents already have a perfect credit rating).

Yeay for driviness! Was your old car beyond repair after the accident, or did you just decide to upgrade instead of repair?

Yay for the new car!
Oh, I like the Kia. But I have no idea of how it drives... glad you like the feel of it though! ^_^

Gwai, the low one. My highest is on a very good day when I'm not sick the D or E above that. I'm back to low D again today though. Ah well, at least it's not monotone Mari anymore. And I'm hoping to get my last testresults in tomorrow. If it is positive for something that does not include voice trouble I'll finally be able to go visit a specialist.
Romaniachoir starts rehearsing next Saturday, so I'm getting a bit anxious...

We're guessing that it's not going to be worth fixing because of the high potential for frame damage. So we're sort of taking a risk on it, guessing that it's going to be too damaged to be worth repair.

Anyways, the neon has never been very reliable for me. It broke down four or five times, and my parents were concerned because the engine had started sounding rough over the last two years or so. It probably could've lasted me another 3-4 years, but that's right when I'm going to graduate, and my parents were considering the fact that they want to make sure us kids will have a car we don't have to make payments on for at least a few years after we graduate.

My fronting the down payment was helpful in making the decision, too . Now I just pray like crazy that I don't get into any kind of wrecks or car trouble.

I wont lie... I'm a little scared. That's a lot of money I paid, and it's probably the nicest car anyone in my family owns right now... But hopefully, it will all be worth it. I'm just scared of getting into another accident and costing my family even more money -_-.

Tessar, a kia is a great car and has a stellar warranty and beau-coup airbags and safety features.

Good job.

Congrats, Tess! Sounds awesome. The steering factor is so important for me; on the rare occasions when I have to borrow someone else's car, and it ends up steering like a sailboat, I hate it! I don't trust those things further than I can throw them. >.> I need to *connect* with a car to be comfortable, and that just ain't happenin' if it doesn't respond well to me.

My feet are finally warming up again
Going outside into the snow on open shoes because they have better profile so you won't slip might not have been the best idea ever...

I got meds...
The doc isn't sure we will be treating the right thing, but he doesn't know where else to start. If we ARE treating the right thing though, we will know the cause of my lack of energy and my lack of voice: my thyroid! It's too slow and that COULD cause lack of energy with some people and if it's also enlarged, it COULD just be that it is pressing on my voice somewhere, so it MIGHT just be that that was the problem. We'll know in 7 weeks. This wouldn't explain my losing weight though (but that has stopped, thank Heavens)
Don't you love being a medical mystery?

No, not really... But I'm glad to hear at least some progress is made towards a diagnosis for your long-lingering illness. It just sucks to wait 7 whole weeks for it to be sure. *hugs and cookies*

Hooray! I got into English grad school! I'm not sure the program (at Tufts) is where I'll end up, but they're a really good program and I'd be very happy there, so I know I'm going somewhere at LEAST that awesome! EXCITEMENT!

Hurray!

Ive successfully added five albums to My Photos on my new homepage.

I tell you - it has been quite a chore - incessant missing or mispelled links or picnames have made the whole business a bit hard.

Now I will continue working thru the rest of the photos and I will be very careful and check every link properly in order to prevent any more red-crossed pics or not-working links.

yay! Yesterday was the first day that I didn't use any type of assistance with walking! You can still push me over with your little finger, and I limp, and it's painful, but I didn't use the surgery boot or the crutches or the foot brace! I just saw some light at the end of the tunnel!

My physical therapist gave me a hard time about thinking that I could walk after only 2 months - he said it's just a long, hard haul with this type of surgery. And the Dr. said a year or so. It's just that I want to walk sooner! Anyway, yesterday was finally an encouraging day

Yay for mobility!

But don't try to rush it, R*an, or otherwise you may end up back again in surgery too soon.

Congratulations Rian! I really hope you keep getting stronger and feeling better. But as Earniel said, don't rush it too much, or it could backfire
