Nice autumnal feel in the air today, which makes me very happy. Also, it's a Bank Holiday weekend and I'm going on holiday in a week... and I don't go back to university until October 2nd

its Friday! no more school!.... until Sunday, that is.

But still, Its Friday! And then there's Saturday! Why shouldn't I be happy?

College is so exciting! I love it, and all the people

And classes haven't even started yet!

Today was a great day with lots of good news.
For instance I passed an exam that I was completely sure I would fail, meaning there's much less stress hanging over me now

But the biggest news is I'm going to be the godfather of my friend's baby girl

A bit of advice: If you ever have to take the child into public, wear a shirt that says: I'm this Child's Godfather.

It's weird for people to see me with my two nephews...they think I'm the father...very uncomfortable sometimes.

Congrats, Jon! Is this some sort of state or society sponsored thing, I take it, rather than religious?

Thanks guys. Yeah BB, I guess I'm in the mafia business now.

Nah Hector, I wouldn't find that too uncomfortable at all. People have already thought I'm the father of my two nieces but that hasn't bothered me much.

And no, Gwai. This is indeed a Christian baptism. Why, can't picture me taking part of a religious ceremony? . I sense a tiny prejudice against an atheist like myself

No, I'm thinking more of the rite itself. I'm guessing a Lutheran baptism, but if it is the same as a Catholic godparent, then they are supposed to be an adherent of the same faith, and promise to lead by example and ensure the child gets a good upbringing in the faith. But, I guess people don't really care what religious things are supposed to be anymore, as a whole, and just sort of go through them. God knew what he was talking about when he said 'their lips praise me, but their hearts are far from me'.

Yep, a Lutheran baptism. The US is a very religious country whereas Sweden is not, at least not to the same extent. As a result, faith is often not as important during a baptism as the tradition of baptism itself.

Besides, I'm not an adherent of a different faith than the parents.
