Coward was a playwright and Betjeman a poet (and nemesis of C.S. Lewis ).

lol.

So, Knights that are recognised because they were influential button manufacturers and have titles that aren't heritable are interesting, but Kinghts that saved their King's life on the field of battle and were enobled aren't.

Interesting criteria, but not enumerated in the earlier posts.

Silly Americans. No idea how the game is played.

Well....naming all the royalty would be too easy. This game would have been over a long time ago...

Do they have to be English? There is a Dutch knighthood which you can become member of... and they make a lot of people knight every year. That would boost your list.

Composer - Sir Ernest MacMillan
Composer - Sir Malcolm Arnold

Strange that noone ever knighted famous composers such as Handel...

i.ve got Arnold already. MacMillan got knighted? Hadn't heard that...I'll add him right away.
Yeah, not sure why Handel didn't get a knighthood...after all the things he did for England...

Sir David Lean (film director)...Lawrence of Arabia

Bono (not sir)
Rudolph Guliani (also not sir)

But both knights nonetheless.

Wasn't Betjeman the one who inspired Sebastian Flyte?

He was certainly the inspiration for Sebastian's teddy bear (though Betjeman's bear was called Archie, not Aloysius).
