I'm an active partipicant right now for several reasons. But I had stayed out of them for the last year or more because it's the same thing over and over again.

Much ado about nothing. The reason theres only a few active threads is not because christians take everything over but because theres a paltry few worthy contributors on this forum now. And political threads tend to be controversial here so the real hot topics usually arent made into threads (Terry Schiavo anyone?) So of course things will be stagnant and fewer threads will be hotly active. I never care what the name of a thread is. I simply reply to something thats been posted. Im not into formality and hair spliting. I just talk when I want to talk. Doesnt matter what thread its in or what its about. If it tickles my fancy or I feel requires a response then Ill post. Simple as that.

I had been planning on making a thread on that actually last week. You are more than welcome to start it up though.

As do I - that's why if something came over through e-mail that I found interesting in a thread - I go there and respond.

That's pretty much how I feel. Reply to what you want to reply to! Post what you want to post! If you don't like a thread, don't post on it, or maybe start another one! If you like a thread, post on it! We're all free to do that here.

There you go. One should be having fun and not getting stressed by any heavy 'discussions' on any internet board. If it ceases to be fun, then do something else. There is no requirement to get on any particular site, let alone the internet or even a computer.

As for the main topics here in the General, many effectively boil down to a christian world view/non-christian world view which can and will be argued forevermore as it has been for thousands of years. When I'm bored I will read some of the back and forth and snicker on how narrow minded both sides can be on certain thing. Rarely is it worth my time and effort to reply to any of it though.

Then there are some who understand BOTH "worldviews" and have a better understanding of BOTH sides of the issue.

Yeah, usually they are ones who did time in some form of christian church and have gotten some distance from it.

Hehe. I'm still "doing time" in the Church, but I can see the other side of the issue too. (However I still stand by my earlier posts in this thread.)

Reread her post and you will find she didn't say/suggest any of that, rather it was you. I'm an atheist and I will say I have ideas about things, not beliefs. Ideas can change, beliefs can't. Most atheist I know are supportive of homosexual relationships, funny it is religious groups who despise such things.

And your ideas are based on your beliefs, right?

Beliefs can't change? That's news to me!

Atheist:
  • one who believes that there is no deity
Is that your belief? Or only an idea?

Belief:
  • 1: a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing (This can surely change)
  • 2: something believed; especially : a tenet or body of tenets held by a group (This too can change)
  • 3: conviction of the truth of some statement or the reality of some being or phenomenon especially when based on examination of evidence [i]This may change over time as well)

Idea:
  • 1 a: a transcendent entity that is a real pattern of which existing things are imperfect representations
  • b : a standard of perfection : IDEAL (Pretty much un-obtainable)
  • c : a plan for action : DESIGN
  • 2 archaic : a visible representation of a conception : a replica of a pattern
  • 3 a obsolete : an image recalled by memory b : an indefinite or unformed conception c : an entity (as a thought, concept, sensation, or image) actually or potentially present to consciousness
  • 4 : a formulated thought or opinion
  • 5 : whatever is known or supposed about something <a child's idea of time>
  • 6 : the central meaning or chief end of a particular action or situation
(all these can change for sure)
