I agree. I think human rights have to be universal or they are meaningless.

With my earlier question (about the "etc") I was trying to ask - who decides which crimes are bad enough for you to forfeit your human rights in this way? First LCoU said murderers and paedophiles, then added rapists... what's a bad enough crime?

EDIT: Also, I think that the more opposed you are to animal testing, the more it makes sense to oppose human testing without consent. They are essentially the same thing (if you oppose animal testing because it is cruel to creatures who don't get a choice).

Your ideas are very interesting Chrys, which is why I asked you to come in here.

Though Sun-star and others raise interesting points about animal/human testing, you brought up some other cool points too.

For example, what changes would you make to the Job Seekers Allowance? I think a lot of countries have issues with their current systems. Some reforms are probably quite worthwhile.

good points Sun-star.
I don't want either animals, or humans to be used for testing. even if the humans which are condemned to death, which I think is another law who crashes with human rights, are already going to die, they should not be use for testing. maybe there are crimes evil enough, in any case you can not take their life away.

I agree. They'll have paid health care - but like Canada - no doctors.

Hey, we have doctors JD! Mighty good ones too. I'm not saying our system is perfect, but we like it most of the time. I've never had a bad experience with the healthcare system, and our family has asked a lot of it.

Imagine... a perfect health care system.

You're a government (in a bizarre alternate dimension) with unlimited resources. What is your healthcare system like?

What else are you going to do with your unlimited resources? It can be anything!

I would model my system after the Canadian one, but since I have unlimited resources, doctors, nurses, surgeons, anasthesiologists etc. would be quite highly paid, with excellent benefits. We would be stealing them from other countries! Mwehehe... therefore we could have pretty nice hours too, since there are enough people.

We will also have free university and college education for all. And many dorms which are in good repair and near the campus will be built. The universities will also be given enough funding for all the neat research projects, smaller classes for students, paying TAs, giving deserving profs tenure etc. This will also include enough funding to hire competent companies to run the cafeteria. Once this is implemented, it will become illegal to serve swill food in a cafetieria - swill status determined by a board of former students.

Maybe it's not fair to steal others doctors, so hopefully a lot of students will be encouraged by the free program and go to med school. Maybe we will actually pay people to go to med school as a further incentive.

The only resources that limit you are time and creativity. What will you do... what will you do?

A lot of your doctors are moving to the US. Brantford now has a shortage of doctors - and that informaiton is coming form CANADIAN pages I read while I was up there. So you can think what you want - but the Canadian healthcare system is in crisis - just like France's is.

JD, our healthcare system does have problems, but it's not like your own system is without problems.

If you do feel like elaborating on that (with possibly more than one sentence ), I would find it interesting.

How would you go about it?
Do you think it's possible for everyone in the world to share one religion?
How would world dynamics change?
etc.

Most of our healthcare problems are related to stupid lawyers or the damn HMOs.

I wouldn't make everyone a Christian either, but I'm still interested in what you have to say Me9996.

*sigh* Or is my thread gasping for breath, clinging to life with one claw-like finger...
