With the exception of the song "The Greatest Adventure," the lyrics such as "ho ho my lad" were lifted right out of the book.

the noses gave me nightmares and Bilbo looks like Princess Leia in Star Wars with the hairdo. Gollum also looked like a fat frog with fingers. The goblins chins were to big. Thorins forhead was bigger than his face. Smaugs head was 2 small for his body and looked like a big cat with wings

I really want to watch this! I remember renting this with my dad when I was about 12, but the tape didn't work because it had been pirated too many times or something. I was very disappointed at the time.

I don't know what the character designers were thinking though. Maybe they played too much American Football without a helmet...

To wit:

That's supposed to be Thranduil.

Of the 3 animated films, I thought the Hobbit stuck closest to the book.

The animation at times could have been better, but on the whole I anjoyed the film. I really liked the songs sung in the film.

Previous discussion on the animiated film.

I've never seen the animated Hobbit. I really want to. One time we were going to rent it, but my mom decided not to because we were already going to rent about 6 movies. Maybe next time....

no, uruki, singular, uruk-hai is plural, ie: orc-folk, as olog-hai is to troll folk

tho technically uruk-hai is horror-folk, from uruki = horrors

I drew my own characterization, what do you guys think?

I imagine that he bothers to get dressed in the morning... you know, not just showing up for work in a loincloth...

Nurvingiel,

Nice drawing.

I think one of the more touching parts of the hobbit is when Thorin is on his bed talking to Bilbo about how the world would be much better if everyone valued food and good cheer more than jewels and gold. (or words to that effect.)
