I know of no poms who object to being called poms. If they did, that would make them twats as well as poms.
I recall trying to qualify my pommery to a bunch of Aussies, by pointing out the key distinction between Scots and English, but they just looked at each other and said "What'd the pommie bastard say?" However, I do know many poms who will be flocking to those bookies' web sites for a piece of that action. Do you know if they are online? |

YES! 2-1 lead restored as Hoggard rips 'em to shreds.

Blimey jings!
Great effort by the burly Yorkshire lad. I've been watching it unfold on the BBC web site; a riveting afternoon's reloadery. It looks like this England team really have discovered how to win. You'd have bet your mortgage on the draw when they were 200-odd for 6 this morning. To hit 135 in less than a session, then bowl SA out in under 2 sessions is awesome, particularly given Harmison's dire form. Last edited by The Gaffer : 01-17-2005 at 12:22 PM. |

I too watched the day's events unfolding on the old beeb.co.uk.
May I laugh loudly and satisfiedly at this point?

Please, be my guest.
I believe the expression is: Quote:
So, to the final Test. The Boks will come out fighting, that's for sure. Do you think we can expect Harmison to manage a decent bowl for once? |

I'm hoping there's a law of averages thing here and he finally has a decent match! But that's the thing about the current side; in the past we had two or three talismanic players and if they failed we'd had it. Now we have a team where, if the man of the moment doesn't deliver, another one seems to pop up to take his place.

No indeed. Should be a great final test. As I said, I expect the Boks to come out fighting and they may well force a series draw. On the face of it, that wouldn't be an unfair reflection of the teams. Let's hope the weather doesn't ruin it.
I suspect the thought of flying home soon may inspire Harmison to something near his usual form. |

We don't refer to the cricket team as the boks....thanks to the changes in administration etc, they are the proteas
If the weather stays like this I reckon we're in for something similar to the Wanderers test.

Bummer. It's raining so the start is delayed.
The "Proteas"?? I noticed that in a newspaper report and thought it was some sort of misprint. Where does that come from? |

It's our national flower....might as well call them the pansies
(With a name like that they don't really stand a chance do they?) Weather doesn't look good for the next few days - it's overcast and raining....predicted to stay that way for the next few days

Ah, bless.
Sounds like something only an advertising agency would think is a good idea. |

Could be right there, though I haven't seen them trying to make that excuse.
Just being not very good at the one day game is probably nearer the mark. |
