I had read somewhere that the head of the Wiccan "church" er whatever was the devil. I don't know if someone said that already though.

I don't think so. I believe that the Wiccan God (not the Goddess) is sometimes portrayed as a green man with horns, which corresponds to the traditional Christian view of the Devil, hence confusion.

Hmph, already this needs a bump! Am I the only one who is interested in learning more of other religions?

O yes, I definitely believe in possession as well. I believe that there are forces of evil (i.e. demons), and that they are powerful. Not in comparison to God, of course...
Anyway, I wasn't expecting the actual rite..hmmm...any exorcists on the 'Moot? But rather, a sort of an overview. i.e. There are some priests who sort of "specialize" in exorcism, right?

I think that the Vatican does have priests who "specialize" in the rite of exorcism. If a priest thinks that an exorcism should be performed, than he would go to the Vatican and they would send people to investigate. I'm assuming that they also have priests who are specialists in other areas of theology as well, such as eschatology (sp) and christology etc. |

GW- I don't think that's all that personal a question, so I'll do my best to answer it. There are various different gods and goddesses in the different pantheons - such as the Greek gods, the Egyptian gods, the Celtic ones - which people can and do worship. However, much of the time, they're simply referred to as the God and Goddess.

I read on a Wiccan site that it was introduced either in the 1900's or the 1800's, I don't remember which, and many people said that it was much older and was only being re-awakened or something like that, because they felt that a brand-new religion would not be nearly as liable to appeal as an ancient one.

From a quick search on Google, here is an overview of Wiccan history, from a site about world religions.

Also, I now have two questions for Wiccans:
What is the Book of Shadows? and What purpose do pentagrams have in Wicca?
