It's Tessar. There is no 'r' near the beginning of Tessar. Think of it as the butt-r. Or just call me Tess. Last edited by Tessar : 06-29-2008 at 01:47 AM. |

You were showing such masculine grandeur in the Treebeard thread a moment ago. You just had to ruin it .

Beware, Tess . Your lousy new name may stick.
Though I certainly hope not .

He is whatever he damn well wants to be.
Though it don't mean a damn thing to me what he's called when I go in to tackle glomp. Only thing he's going to be called is 'flattened'.

Lief, may I simply state how strange it seems to me that your signature quote is by a man who was both socialist and gay?
Just seems rather the opposite of your philosophy.

Lol! On that point, at any rate, we can agree and perhaps parley .

*Sigh.* . . . I have very mixed feelings about him. Sadness is definitely the dominant one. He had such a tortured life in many ways . . . His homosexual partner was an unspeakably hideous individual, extremely abusive to Wilde, leeching his money and talent . . . Wilde felt that the fellow had a kind of power over him that Wilde could not resist. It's my personal opinion, as a result of reading the story of their relationship from Wilde's De Profundis, that the guy had a witchcraft hold on Wilde. Wilde's description of the man's controlling relationship with him (and magic really is the spirit of control), and sometimes Wilde's specific word choice describing some kind of malevolent spiritual power attacking him through the man, leads me to believe that. Wilde's wife ended up leaving him, he lost all his property because his partner leeched so much of it, he lost custody of his children, he was put in prison for a long time. And he was spiritually sick in certain ways, IMO, through the homosexuality and other possible immoralities, which left him vulnerable. He was also a genius and a very beautiful soul. He had an absolutely brilliant mind with a fabulous wit that generation after generation will always enjoy. He wrote that when his partner came to him, he lost all his wit and ability to concentrate on or enjoy his work. He couldn't write plays when his partner was near, because the man was such a destructive influence. I think that that's because of the witchcraft power the partner wielded (probably unconsciously, though perhaps consciously). Wilde was such a brilliant man. I very much enjoy his plays and his wit. He had a lot of profoundly true insights that he discussed in De Profundis, also. I have a lot of feelings about him. Definitely my foremost is sadness. I also treasure his wit and insight on various issues. He's a fascinating person with a story that's both remarkable and tragic.

Oh, I have no trouble with Wilde. I quite like him. I was just a bit suprised, knowing your politics and stance towards homosexuality... And you know that the problems he had with his partner could have happened no matter what his sexuality...
As for the witchcraft stuff...well...let's keep that in the theology thread. Where you need to post, by the way.
