We're apparently below LCOU's radar, so I'm going to invoke this thread's "Three Day Rule" so we can move it along.

Borin died in 2712 - he was great-grandfather to Oin, Gloin, Balin and Dwalin, and great-great-uncle to Thorin Oakenshield (as well as Dain Ironfoot, but by different nephews), according to the record at the end of Appendix A.

Rather than ask the next question now, I'll give someone else the opportunity. If nobody has asked by the next time I check back, I'll ask one myself.

What Eldarin language did the High elven speak in LoTR, and what language did the Grey elven speak?
