So? He could change into a serpent. He wasn't born a serpent, though. He was originally an ANGEL. Yeesha.

Vampires were born creatures, however, they weren't born as spirital entities. So blah, I win.

I guess Bruce Lee's a mythological beast too...

But if you have the myth where vampires are basically walking dead, then they are not born creatures. That's the original mythology, I believe.

I can't believe this is still going! RE quit being so stubborn: if we can count vampires, we can count angels.

I know a lot of real people named Angel and Angela. They're certainly not mythological.

*long, loud scream*

ENOUGH with the Satan and the angels and the vampires!!!!

At least from what I'VE heard, vampires were originally people who, 1. were bitten by a vampire bat, or 2. were bitten by another vampire. That makes them, shall we say, non-un-dead,
as at least most of them were people at first.

Satan was originally an angel, and I think at least some of us would prefer to leave religion out of it, so can we stick to dragons, unicorns, and whatnot?

I didn't name myself "Rogue Elf" for nothing, BoP.

Oh, fine. It's just too easy making people mad these days. I need a person worth challenging. CBG is a sturdy adversary . . .

Now that I think about it, how goes say for Tolkien's vampires? They weren't exactly likable in every aspect, just large bats with slightly humaniod features, but they were kinda interesting.

I would have to be completely unoriginal and say a dragon.

Or does Pegasus count as a 'beast'?

Well that depends... If we can count angels, then we can count maiar, but then again, if we can't count angels...

I think the question would be whether or not they count as 'beasts' as opposed to mythological. There is no doubt (in my mind) that they are mythological. But 'beast' is probably the more debatable topic. And I would say, by that reasoning, that angels, vampires and maiar would not count.

And you call me stubborn.

Count EVERYTHING that someone (and there is always a someone) in the world might say "it doesn't exist" or "it never existed". Happy? Argument settled.

A pegasus would count then, Starr.

Now there's the problem. Because if we look up the definition of beast... *goes to look up defination of beast*

Quote:
beast Pronunciation Key (bst)
n.

1.
1. An animal other than a human, especially a large four-footed mammal.
2. New England & Southern U.S. A large domestic animal, especially a horse or bull.
2. Animal nature as opposed to intellect or spirit: “So far the beast in us has insisted upon having its full say” (William Dean Howells).
3. A brutal, contemptible person.
... we find that two things need to be considered. First, that a beast is something OTHER than a human. The second, and most important thing, is that it has an "animal nature" as opposed to a human intellect. As you can see, that is quite problematic, because quite a few mythological creatures have the so-called human intellect, eg Centaurs. So really, the problem lies with the title of the thread, because there are quite a few mythological creatures who don't have the animal intellect per se. Drivel, drivel, blah blah, etc.

You lot really are a bunch of nitpickers, you know that?

Brokehorn4000 should probably have been more politically correct and should have written: favorite mythological creature.

Yes, but creature can be applied to sentient beings.
