Yeah - Quebec isn't exactly Canada. If Quebec ever gets it's wish - it may not be part of Canada in the future. But Ontario is sort of like the US Midwest, Tornoto is similar to Chicago. I have friends all over Canada - but not in Quebec.

The British Columbia and Alberta areas cool. I know someone that had gone on their vacation to Banff.

Yeah but the girls with that great French- Canadien accent ( yes they spell it that way in Quebec)

I went to grad school in Vermont. smugglers notch is cool

Did you climb mt. mansfield?

It could be an age thing. It seems most teenagers think most things are boring. But there are some great cultural things to do in the there.

Did I mention the french canadien girls?

Quebec city is like little Europe.

Alberta is nice. reminds me of australia but in the north. Clean fresh.

and also natural women. No make up dependent big hair types around

I like canada its laid back and I feel safe there

also the canadian ( spelled this way elsewhere) side of the falls rock

if ya know where to go

My friend has cousins in Alberta. She visited them last year and they took her to Highland Games were they were serving Iron Bru and wearing kilts.

Which I think is fantastic

I love the Canadian accent.

I'm definately going to go back to Canada one day.

Yes. And kilts are the best
Lots of Scottish influence around here, I think. I didn't notice it until a few years ago.
It's fun.

Well here in Kitchener, Ontario we've got lots of German influence and I think the biggest Oktoberfest outside of Germany.

A burning question

One of the first times I was driving in Canada, I came to an intersection with a blinking green light. Well drown me in brine and call me a pickle, but I'd never seen a blinking green light before. The question which haunts me now is:

What does it mean?

Crickhollow, you're such a pickle.

If I remember my "Safe Driving Guide" right, a blinking green light means you can go, but if there's a pedestrian at the intersection waiting to cross, you have to stop for them. Otherwise, go straight through. Treat it like a pedestrian sign.
At least that's what I was taught.
It's different in the States?

If it were the same in the states, I imagine that I would have seen a blinking green light before.

Well, they're not all that common here either, so maybe.
But then, they drive funny down south. Heehee.
they have "ped xing" signs instead.
Honestly, i hate driving cars, so I don't have strong feelings about traffic signage as long as it is intelligently placed.

Well, now if you ever see a blinking green light and a pedestrian on the curb, you'll know what to do.

Just curious, have any of you heard Five Iron Frenzy's "O Canada"? You really should.

Question for our Canadians here:

I saw something in a headline or somewhere - about how an official in British Columbia is trying to make an apology inadmissible in court or something like that. Apparently - people up there are not apologizing when they do something wrong - because it can be taken as an admission of guilt or something.

I didn't read through the story. Does anyone know what triggered this? Was somebody held liable for monetary damages or something - because of something they did and apologized for??

Question for our Canadians here: Has your military force yet exceeded three squirrels in size?

*beats a hasty retreat*

No, and that's an embarassment, considering how much we talk about international law and enforcement.

OTOH, Canadian troops are on active duty under US command (NOT peacekeeping or NATO duties) in Afghanistan; so far eleven have died there.
