There's no need to throw away a chocolate cake, even though it was accidental

The day I throw away a perfectly good chocolate cake is the day the universe explodes.

*puts cake on the table*

Help yourself. (And while you're enjoying the cake, have a thought for LLL, please?)

*enjoys chocolate cake*

*thinks about LLL*

The main character in my current, Norwegian, NaNoWriMo project works in a library. She has come across a book with English texts - mostly unrelated to either the plot or each other. But she reads them, so they go into the novel - at least until December 1st - and into the word count. Perhaps the next of these texts involves an Elf named Barufiniel

Is there any cake left?

I had some really good cake at school the other day - we were doing a cross-curricular unit on Guy Fawkes, which involved the kids making parkin.

That sounds great, Varna! I wish I could read Norwegian. How's the word-count going?

Sure, help yourself to cake!

The word count isn't going very fast
I thought I would write lots and lots on Saturday, but it just didn't happen.
We'll see whether Sunday improves it. A couple of days mid-week I wrote nothing at all, so a few hundred words is still better than that ...

The section before the one about Barufiniel, is about her cousin Nimlothel. You'll find it on that other Tolkien board we know, where I just posted it as the next post of The Theft of Umbar - you can read it there

Speaking of word counts, the novel that I finally got the nerve to send a inquiry to a publisher on is 12,914 words.

Wish me luck on it, guys. I should know in about a week if they'll consider it.

Ah, so that's where everyone slunk off to! I could have known, it's that month again.

13,000 words? That doesn't sound like a novel; more like a long short story. How many pages does that add up to?

Fine. Novella *sticks tounge out at Gwai* 36 typed single spaced. XP

*hopes it is a very large chocolate cake as she walks in*

Whew. Maybe in the Teacup, it's impossible to make a small chocolate cake.

Now, for dessert... what'd you do with your clam chowder, Nauti?

The thing with LLL was that I found it really hard to jump back in. Like, the character had been silent for so long, it seemed odd that suddenly she would be involved again. Maybe I'll go post in the discussion thread.

Addition: I was reading a thread in the Archive (I think that's where I found it) about how to annoy admen* (sound familiar, Tess?) One of the suggestions was type everything with your nose. I very nearly began typing with my nose WHILE I'M AT WORK. If I had, I think you definitely would have heard about it as well.

*I think "admen" is the SCIENTIFIC plural for admin. Saying "admins" is like saying "cactuses".

Except for the posts that are sad. In that case I say, have a cup of tea or coffee, or a bottle of beer. In my case, tea. Unless it's a rough morning. Then it's coffee!!!!

Well, I wasn't sure if we were throwing mice or mooses or something that has nothing to do with either of those. Thank you!

I think "meese" should be the plural of the term "mouse" in reference to the device used with computers, not the rodent. To differentiate between the two and because it sounds so weird to say that the computer mice were broken or whatever.
