Yeah, yesterday was a bit crappy, mostly because I had trouble in jazz choir. I'm so used to singing certain notes in chords, that I was almost completely unable to sing the right line during jazz choir... in regular music we basses typically only sing the root/fifth or maybe a few odd harmonies, but usually it's a logical progression. In jazz music, your line can make some of the most (seemingly, anyways) illogical leaps through different parts of the chords. It's just weird, and was really difficult. Plus I was already starting to feel a little sick, so... it was blech.

The concert was glorious, though .

Today is Chinese New Year- Happy Year of the Ox!

Had the traditional big dinner with all the wife's family last night, followed by watching the fireworks. Just started a week-long holiday- downside,so has everybody else so every place will be packed, though maybe not so much this year because of the downturn.

Our government has just handed out coupons worth about US$100 to every man, woman, and child in Taiwan to try and stimulate spending- guess I'll have to go out and do my patriotic duty

Ox people:

15 February 1961 - 4 February 1962: Metal Ox
3 February 1973 - 22 January 1974: Water Ox
20 February 1985 - 8 February 1986: Wood Ox
7 February 1997 - 28 January 1998: Fire Ox
26 January 2009 - 14 February 2010: Earth Ox

Happy New Year GrayMouser

I'm an Ox person (Wood Ox), so I wore red today for good luck

Would you recommend any other rituals or stuff that an Ox traditionalist should do this year?

The Chinese New Year also made me happy, when I almost by mistake realized that they were having a 4-hour celebration in downtown Helsinki on Sunday. I took some nice photos and had a great time developing them.. last night.. 'til 4 am. XD

Anyway, the snow is slowly dancing down from the sky, and the sun is sometimes peeking out from behind the heavy clouds.. It's a beautiful day.

My written presentation was deemed a good pass
Didn't expect that. Now I get to take my exam.

I have a great fuzzy mane and tail? Fluffy wings maybaps?

I'm happy because I got an A on my test and my first two assignments and quizzes. Hurrah!

I got some great news this evening: my granddad has decided to give the summer cottage to me! So I am now a land owner and have property.. I love that place.

*dances*

hehe.. yes, it's very nice. it's a small cottage in the archipelago with some forest around it.

this, for instance, is from there:

a week ago i got an email from my supervisor saying, fill out this form, you might get some money for this summer. so i filled it out in a minute or so. now i've been granted 2000 € for working in a research group for two months this summer (ie. 1000€/month).

that was easy. o.O and i guess i know my summer plans now..

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness! I cannot only make myself audible today, I've added three tones to my voice! Yay for escaping monotone speaking! Who knows, I might actually get my voice back! Oh my goodness, this is a such a relief.
I've practically been without voice (i.e. I couldn't make myself audible and if I could I was very monotone and soft) for 6 weeks...
Oh, I'm so happy right now There is hope yet ^_^
