I keep messing up all my languages these days horribly. Something like "Ich m'appelle Katya to iimasu" No seriously "ich" comes up in my French all the time and Japanese just fills in the cracks of things I don't know all the time. I... love it. <3

I know what you're saying! Once I started learning Japanese, I started forgetting French and German and nowadays every time I want to speak French I put in Japanese particles, like ga and no

Well, Nauti, I like it in a way, like I said, Ilike the version they use for poetry better then the normal everyday version of Arabic. But most of all I love my mother tounge farsi, because it is a wonderful blend of everything, that and we're just so darn funny. We've had centuries to define our sillyness, and it is something indeed to behold!

Before you read my reply, just know that, when it comes to languages, I'm a dunce.

Alright, here goes.....

Where is farsi spoken?

Iran, primarily, and in afghanistan, and bordering countries speak various dialects of it. Its an Indo-Iranian language, a base language for many western languages. It's 1am for me, so I'm not in a fit state to list them off. Eh, I'll go crash on the couch with my cousins cats...

But its a lovely language, look into it if you can.

Cool. I really like the history of the middle-eastern region, so I'll see what I can find, maybe then we can have an intellectual conversation.

Night to you.

This being the language thread, I'd like to ask for help.
When in Japan I started a quest to learn in as much languages as possible to say that I don't speak that particular language. I collected a few languages like Thai and Korean, but I would like to know how to say it in many more languages!
So if you could please tell me what to say in your language and if possible with a little guidance as to the pronounciation, you'd make me very happy
This is what I have sofar (not so much, because I lost the notebook in which I used to write them down, so this is all from memory)

Ik spreek geen Nederlands (Dutch) [Ik spray-k gain Nay-duh-r-lance]
Je ne parlez pas Francais (French)
Watashi wa nihongo ga wakarimasen (Japanese) [what-ashee wa nee-hon-go ga wakaree-masen]
Hanguru mo teo (Korean)
... pai Thai maidai (Thai)

and I lost Norsk, Chinese, Indonesian, Uzbeki and Philpines
Not much considering the number of languages on this planet, but still.

Farsi ha'arf nemiconam. (Farsee haarf (prounounced like in scarf) nemee-cone-am)

There, now you can say it in Farsi too.

I have a similar quest as Mari, but to learn how to order a beer in as many as possible. I have French, Swedish, German, Spanish and Chinese so far. But how do I order a beer in Finnish? It's sad that I can't since I've actually been there, and drank Karhu.

In Dutch it's something along the lines of: een biertje alsjeblieft [an bee-r-cha als- (like in walz)ye- (sounding a bit like "the")-blee-ft]

From my (very limited) experience, it does seem that Farsi sounds smoother than Arabic.

I am brushing up on my Russian, in preparation for my trip there at Christmas-time. In order to make sure there wasn't anything at the beginning of the course I wasn't familiar with, I just started over, though of course I knew pretty much everything they said, and a lot more. The lady on the CD said, "Skazhite, pazhulshta, gdye khoroshii restoran?" Which means, "Tell me, please, where is a good restaurant." Since they had not yet given me "restoran" or "khoroshii", I was supposed to say, "Ya nye ponimayo", that is, I don't understand. Instead, I said, "Izvinite, ya znaio moskva nye ochen khorosho", which means, "I'm sorry, I don't know Moscow very well."

I was also highly amused that they are teaching you how to score abroad. "Do you want to drink something at my place?"

I'm sure gonna be practicing that one!

And here is a little scenario...

!

You mean to say that you actually need lines to score? Girls don't fall at your feet when you simply pay attention to them? Too bad for you.

But serious, how come you're going to Russia? Vacation? Is it near where you come from or do you have to travel far?
