Quote:
But songs are a different thing. Just about everyone I know in the Phil. knows how to sing (though some better than others). We used to play games with songs (name that tune; another one involves singing a song starting with a word and the next guy needs to start the next song with the last word you gave). There was a time in high school when song and chordbooks were almost as common as comic books.

I said I'd do this, and I just did. I really makes absolutley no sense, but then again, neither does the original! So, here it is, "Laurelindorenan," from "Octopus's Garden." I know there are a few inaccuracies, but that's just how it turned out. (I really need to stop putting disclaimers in front of everything I do!)
I'd like to be, under the trees In Laurelindórenan, in the shade She'd let us in, knows where we've been By the Mirror of Galadriel, in the shade I'd ask Sam to come and see Into Galadriel's Mirror with me I'd like to be, under the trees In the land of Lórien, in the shade We would be safe, far from Moria In our little Flet, among the trees Resting our heads, on the Elven beds In Galadriel's realm, near the trees We would sing and dance all day Because we know, The Ring can't be found (not really, I know) I'd like to be, under the trees In Laurelindórenan, in the shade We would sing, we'd sing about Poor Gandalf falling through with the Balrog Oh, but how sad, for every Man, Elf, and Hobbit Knowing Gandalf is fallen to Shadow We would be so happy, you and me If Mithrandir were here with us (to Gandalf) I want to be, under the trees In the land of Lórien, with you In the land of Lórien, with you In Laurelindórenan with you

Go Eruviel! In the meantime, for my 777th post here's another
Billy Joel song which I hope you girls would know and like. My first Dwarvish love song. (Originally She's Always A Woman) She's Always A Noldo She can soothe with a phial She can probe with her eyes She can channel your rage as her mind is so wise And she only reveals what she wants you to see She's fair as a child But she's always a noldo to me She can make you believe She will never deceive you She can ferret the truth without having to ask you She'll provide enough lembas from Lorien 'til Bree To catch any thief But she's always a noldo to me Oh, she protects Lothlorien She's been waiting an age She's been biding her time Oh, and when her time is all out And she sails to the West She's the last of her kind She provided us oars Elven boats for Anduin She then gave us gifts worth a lot more than mithril After passing the test and then letting us be Charmed a dwarf like myself Oh she's always a noldo to me She's incredibly kind Though as grave as a juror She can see what she pleases she has that fine mirror But she won't leave Lothlorien until the world's free And the most she will do Is lift shadows from you Coz she's always a noldo to me

that's good, Arathorn! I don't know the original song, but it's good. Now if I can ever tear myself away from entmoot, I'll work on that song. . .

Arathorn, do you spend ANY time working, because you have posted the most songs on this thread and as people have pointed out, you r on here 24:7. I'm not saying thats a bad thing, because you are SOOOO lucky to have a free run of a computer!
I've not been on here for three days and I was beginning to suffer from withdrawel symptoms! Back to the topic...I'm still working on Dionne Warwick. The best version of that song is the one from 'My Best Friends Wedding' with the lobster people in it. Keep up all of the good work lyricists, and especially Eowyn. Btw, I'm thinking of doing The World is not Enough by Garbage, man do I love that film!

You should try looking for his collection Eruviel. You're missing an icon from the 80s.
And Rosie-lass, I have a linux machine in the office so I can work and moot at the same time with multiple screens. BTW, I'm only on 20:7. At home, I only moot, watch TV, and take a bath. Hmmm, and I eat too. The rest of the time I go to school for my masters 3:2.

Okay, Arathorn, I'll look for his music. But now I'm actually going to leave entmoot! *gasp* Oh, but I'll come back sometime soon. . .

I have another song!
All Rings Must Pass, from All Things Must Pass, by George Harrison (The Beatles) Sunrise doesn't last all morning The Dark Lord didn't last all age Seems our time is up and we're leaving with this warning But it's not always going to be this grey All Rings must pass All Rings must pass away Sunset doesn't last all evening Now The One Ring has been thrown away After all this our time is up and must be leaving But it's not always going to be this way All Rings must pass All Rings must pass away All Rings must pass None of the Elves can stay So we must be on our way And face the Sundering Sea Now the darkness only stays at night time In the morning it will fade away No it's not always going to be this way All Rings must pass All Rings must pass away

LOL! You guys, these are great!
I can't write songs, it's just isn't my fate. But since you write so many, I guess I'll try just one-- And if it's any good I'll post it up here when I'm done! Really, I love 'em, they're all awesome! I think I'll try some Beatles...or maybe Enya. Anyone else know any Enya 'sides me and Eruviel? -tano

Tano, you should go for some Enya songs! I'm sure a lot of people here have at least heard of her, considering she did those songs for LotR! Try "Anywhere Is" or something!

Whatever you do Tano, don't do Lothlorien. That's cheating because <sneers> it doesn't have any vocals.
BTW, I am liking that song very much Eruviel. Go Beatles! Anyone for some U2 or Smashmouth? They've got pretty recent releases. And Strawberry, I just got surprised by your description. That's all. Now that you've mentioned it. I've been thinking about it since last month. It is quite difficult form me to think of something truly original with a good story. I'll just have to content myself now with playing with form and structure as far as literary stuff goes. I manage and write software programs for a living, btw

I like U2, but my friends hate them, so I'll have a go at Stuck In A Moment...if I ever get time!
If anyone's thinking of doing Smashmouth, I would say do Allstar. I'm not going to do it because it is too fast. Maybe the 'Song Machine' (!) would like a go!

Ok, here it is, v.v. weird as have been working on it for too long so now sounds kind of stupid, but never mind, I suppose it beats Elton John (strawberry!!!).
I Say A Little Prayer For You-Originally by Dionne Warwick, massacred by me! I personally think that Sam should sing this. The moment I wake up, Before I cook our breakfast up, I say a little prayer for you, While running from ringwraiths, And hoping that you are ok, I say a little prayer for you, Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart, And I will love you, Forever and ever, we never will part, Until we reach Mount Doom, Together forever, that's how it must be, Although we're not gay, Our love is quite brotherleeeeeee... We run from that Gollum, dear, While running I think of us dear, I say a little prayer for you, At rest I just take time, And although I really can't rhyme, I say a little prayer for you, Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart, And I will love you, Forever and ever, we never will part, Until we reach Mount Doom, Together forever, that's how it must be, Although we're not gay, Our love is quite brotherleeeeeeee... I say a little prayer for you, I say a little prayer for you, Forever and ever, you'll stay in my heart, And I will love you, Forever and ever, we never will part, Until we reach Mount Doom, Together forever, that's how it must be, Although we're not gay, Our love is quite brotherleeeeeeee... My Frodo, believe me, For me there is no one But you... It's not v.g, but I did my best with a song that, in a film, has lobster people in it...I'm serious!
