I guess that I do agree with Tater on meat, but I was talking more about the corectness of the economic issues. My family has a fairly big freezer at home. It would need to be bigger to actually make a profit off of something like that. Getting a new freezer would take away the money safed on meat purchases. You would still get the pile of meat out of the deal, even if you didn't gain anything else.

I think that when Australia has an over supply, they dump it into my country and our local meat businessmen complain.

The problem with getting bigger freezers to house 'cheaper meat' (which is usually to worst sort to buy for varying reasons), is that they release more CFCs into the environment! Yet another reason to become vegie (apart from farms being VERY bad for the environment in terms of Methane emissions!)

My French teacher told us same great stuff about the beef industry today. I had no idea about any of this, and now I'm more glad than ever that I'm a vegetarian! Turns out cows are forcefed corn (which is normally poisonous to them) bit by bit to increase their tolerance and fatten them up unnaturally quickly. The corn tends to form balls in their stomach and expand, crushing the lungs, and the only way to save the cow is to stick a tube down its throat and break up the cornball. And even if that doesn't happen, the corn ends up eroding the stomach acid layers & causing lesions & ulcers. This in turn allows bacteria from the stomach to get into the blood stream - which is why cows are injected with antibiotics. To top it off, here in the US we give them growth hormones too. Plus, the constant use of antibiotics is breeding resistant bacteria strains that may become deadly to humans! Lovely, ain't it?

That's sounds increditable painfull FF! Poor cows. Not that many forcefeeding around here except for geese which I resent. And hormones are forbidden here, not that that is a garanty for hormone-free meat though. Things like these do make you want to consider veggieness.

Balut: Boiled duck embryos rich in protein and a supposed aphrodesiac. More than 1 can give you high blood pressure. Jumping Shrimp: Poured on cheap white wine and served immediately. Skinned and dipped in soy sauce just before chomping. Kuhol (Golden snails): harvested in rice fields and cooked in coconut milk. Served with shells cracked at the end for those who like to suck or toothpicks for the dainty eaters. Our version of Escargo (sp?) Sorry, gotta go: I'm getting hungry...

Nah...it's from around march of this year. In fact, if you look at the first post, CBG started it as an attempt to balance the Vegetarian thread.

"Gachhh is best served live" BTW, we normally eat shrimp like the rest of the shrimp eating world: Dead and cooked in some secret recipe sauce or as tempura.

Well Khamûl - since you had to close the other (at the suggestion of BoP) I figured I'd link that one to this one.
Meat!!!!!

I love meat...meat is great. Vegetarianism is not natural; we would have never evolved into the intelligent(well some of us) beings we are today. Carnivours are the smarter ones in the animal kingdom. Meat=Brains. Besides if everyone were a vegetarian everything on the earth would die. There would be no plants left for the animals to eat and they would all die of starvation....aren't you trying to save the animals???
