Hmmm, my stuff's a little earlier, too bad, Though I have Devo of course. I remember seeing them at a club called Bogarts in Cinncinatti. I have lots of Ramones,Talking heads, Blondie, Patti Smith, Pretenders, Police, Sex Pistols, Clash, Lots of obscure ones, I can't place right now, all the rockabilly stuff of that first revival era, Straycats, Levi and the Rockcats, Cramps, Blasters, Race Records, Big Daddy Sun and the Outer Planets, Sleepy LaBeef, and on, This is just off the top of my head 25 years after the fact! I'm sure I'm leaving out some big ones!

I link your stuff more to The early MTV years. I remember lots of those bands from then. I really liked that over-produced Brit Techno pop like Big Country, ABC, Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet, Kajagoogoo sp?, Adam Ant, Culture Club, Morrisey, Simple Minds....enough! I loved that music.

Yeah, the Ramones and the Police are classics; though I only have mp3's of the Ramones and Straycats and no CD. I'm still trying to move my aging vinyls and tapes to mp3 while they still sound a bit good.

It was a little late for some of those you mentioned to arrive at our shores and they only trickled in through 2 or 3 radio stations (one of which closed in 1987). I remember lots of people starting to sound brit when they talked. LOL. It was a fresh new sound for us here and we sucked it all up.

Good thing U2 and REM are still making it.

Lizra/Arathorn: I have some of that stuff; I will have to investigate further. What stands out for you?

MP3 collecting is a big thing for me, and if the fascist ISP I belong to didn't whack a 5 gig cap on me, I'd be downloading a lot more!

Lizra and Arathorn, some great music there. Unfortunately, I sold all my albums, but managed to get most of my faves on CDs - Smiths, Depeche Mode, talking Heads, Cure , New Order, The The, Simple Minds, Stone Roses. Either of you remember Haircut 100?
Lizra, garden book collection is about 150. Most of them are general principles and design, along with A-Z perennials and annuals. Now I find I'm getting specific plant books. Newest ones are Tuberous Begonias, Clematis and Companions, and Bulbs for all Seasons.

BoP,
My favorite, which just happened to be a synthpop, is New Order. I liked Regrets, Don't Do It, and the over-exposed Bizarre Love Triangle hits they did. I guess it's just high school memories that make it stand out for me.

Elvet,
Gosh, how could I forget The The! I have their Soul Mining album on CD. I think they got a bit of a revival when they were played on the Empire Records movie. I also remember Haircut 100 but only their "Love Plus 1" hit.

There are also quite a few bands/singers from the southern hemisphere, I recall:
Crowded House, Icehouse, Men at Work, Midnight Oil, David Bowie.

I've been too busy to find the bundles of albums and drag them out, BUT I WILL!! I left out the "little king".....Elvis Costello, and his friend from the STIFF Records label, Nick Lowe. ( also on that label, Ian Drury and the Blockheads, Wreckless Eric) Have you listened much to these guys early stuff Bop? I think you'd like Costello's first 3 or 4 LPs (when he's good and angry) and Nick Lowe (plus Dave Edmonds) is hilarious, try "Pure Pop for Now People".

I still gotta count my books Elvet! I never read them now...just collect them!

i bought a coin set in 2000 coz it was awesome (it had the first colored coin, a really awesome 50c piece with the aussie flag in full color on it) and i have bought one each year since then... the 2000 one more than doubled since i bought it so i figure i buy one a year and just put em a way and leave em to me kiddies and there kiddies, and then they'll probly spend my well made riches on alcohol or some crap like that
