Fine - one of them was seen, his name wasn't mentioned, outside of the Prancing Pony.

I'm sorry, Radagast, I seem to be confusing you everytime I post a reply. You were on the right track but just need to add the two sightings together.

The night the four hobbits stayed in Bree, the Nazgul were sighted in Eriador in two locations - as you have already determined in your earlier post.

How many were seen at each location?? Add them together and, hey presto, you will have the correct answer!! Please try again as I am sure you will get it right next time!!

Elanor you give me hope. Next time I won't let them beat me into submission so easily. RTB will get it he has a problem with this type of detailed question (no offense Rad. )

The Night Court (a US tv sitcom) has the father of the leading character in a mental institution for some years. When he reunites with his son he says: "I used to write my name in cheese whiz, but I'm MUCH better now". The character is played by John Astin who played Gomez in The Adams Family.

Keep 'em guessing El.

How many of the Nazgul were sighted in Eriador the night the four hobbits slept in Bree and where were they sighted?

The answer must be based on actual sightings by characters in the Fellowship of the Ring and not on speculation or hypothesis by characters in the book. [/B][/QUOTE]

...."on Monday one came down the Greenway and another appeared later coming up the Greenway from the south" said by Strider.

3 in Buckland and one in Bree. That would be 4 in the overall.

You are correct, Radagast.

The night the hobbits were in Bree, one Nazgul was sighted by Merry and Nob in the streets of Bree. On this same night, three Nazgul were sighted in Buckland by Freddy Bolger when they invaded the house in Crickhollow.

Your turn.

Sorry, Spock, that is not correct. Certainly the Nazgul were sighted on the Monday, however, that was not the night the hobbits spent in Bree, but earlier in the week. It was a good attempt though!! Radagast eventually calculated the correct answer.

The party held by Frodo in honour of Bilbo's hundred and twelfth birthday, the year after Bilbo departed from the Shire.
