Indeed people drift off and but we did have fun for quite some time though. We can sit in the cafe and remeniscently contemplate the good old times when the place was full of life and humour.

Yes - I remember those days. I DO check in to Entmoot every single day, generally more than once. I think I'll renew my efforts to start posting a little more frequently when I make those visits.

I think I will try to join you. I should really pick up my Silmarillion re-read again. I quit early on because I stalled in a fanfic on the portrayal of Feanor which I was rereading for in the first place. Now I've think I've got him sorted and I can continue.

And I should try to finish Beren and Luthien before The Fall of Gondolin comes later in the month.

I'm anticipating The Fall of Gondolin. I read through Beren and Luthien and it was quite frankly a yawner to me. Children of Hurin on the other hand I thought was quite well done.
Varnafinde... you still visit Minas Tirith? I finally gave up on the place this year. Bornt down my Inn and rode away in the sunset.

*chuckles* I think I was a bit too obtuse. I meant to say I'm pregnant.
Frodo (working name) is expected the beginning of March 2019.

Hah, I was checking the new member list already. Yeah, subtlety does usually go over my head completely.
Congratulations! Mari! Such great news! |

Thanks.
Earn, I think Frodo is already taken... Might work if I go with Frodo (working name).

Heh, Frodo itself is not actually currently taken as username. I'm surprised.
But the baby will have thirtheen years (the agelimit to register) to come up with a good username. So no pressure. Unless you're actually thinking of naming the baby Frodo. In which case I would not suggest waiting thirteen years with deciding on a name. |

I can't say Frodo is on our shortlist...

Occasionally. I find I haven't been there every month, but I haven't given totally up on them yet. So that is why I didn't see any recent posts from you last time I was there.

I can't say I'm that surprised by that. Having read about Jane Goodall's research chimp Frodo (who was not at all like his Hobbit namesake) has kind of soured the name outside the book for me.
Are there any Middle-earth-inspired names on the shortlist? |

Can't say that there are. We're mostly keeping to Dutch names. A name should be livable after all.

True that. But there are some in LoTR that are liveable enough, I think, like Sam or even Arwen. Merry is translated in the Dutch version to Merijn, which is a real Dutch name. I know of a couple of Arwens and at least two people named Merijn. My sis had Elanor on her shortlist in case her last was a girl.
Not that I want to convince you of anything. Names are a parents' privilege. I've heard of too many stories of people presuring new parents to pick certain names of their kids that I certainly don't want to go the same way. |

I do have Eleanor on my list because I think it's a beautiful name, but my husband doesn't really like it and to be honest, the combination with our last name isn't ideal, soundwise.
My physical therapist is a huge LotR fan and was pushing for Arwen, but I did get him to admit he wouldn't give his own daughter that name, so I thought it was weird he was trying to push me into it. Not that I'll let anyone, but you know

Congratulations Mari!
Don't know how this one works with your last name, but for a girl, I've always been partial to Firiel… as a Middle Earth name. We had all boys - but our favorite girl names were Hannah and Emma/Emily. Boys... we had a hard time naming each of ours. We ended up with all Bible names for first names, but that wasn't by design... it just happened. Our oldest went about 24 hours without a name - and we had to name him before leaving the hospital. We chose a name we had already eliminated (we forgot we had) - because it was used by a second cousin of his, with a different last name though. Anyway... by any other name, just as sweet!
