But doesn't that mean you have to make up the snow days in the summer? My cousins last year had to make up two weeks worth of school because for one - tehy usually don't get much snow in southern NJ and two - the snow drifted into the doorways and the schools litterally had to be dug out.

it depends on how many days you missed. like one time the public school teacher went on strike and our teachers (private school) didnt so we didnt miss like 1 weeks but none of the public schools had to make up for it so im not sure

Well it's snowing again - we're only supposed to get 4 - 6 inches this time. They've already been outside plowing as it snows.

It's too cold though for good snowman/snowball snow. It's supposed to be -1 fahrenheit thursday night.

Here are pics of my dogs in our last snow fall when we had 13 inches...

Marc...

Cute dogs.

We've had very little snow this winter. I hope we get some snow soon.

I'd rather have -15 degrees and smow than temperatures around zero and all this slush.

Cute dogs, btw.

Absolutely, I agree. Besides, -15°F (-26°C) isn't too bad if you're dressed properly. Make use of your woollen stockings

Actually though - zack doesn't like the snow - like I told you. Today I got some pictures of him lifting his feed off the ground so he wouldn't touch the ground. Then walking up the stairs there was snow in the steps (outside apartment steps) he didn't like that - so he decided to collapse, with his legs spread out. At first I thought something was wrong - so i picked him up carried him into the apartment - and put him on the ground. THEN HE STOOD UP AND WALKED. He was fine. Well at least nothing was wrong anyway - just his hatred toward snow and his feet being cold.

Ah, how cute . Zack needs a pair of warm stockings then

[edit] Though when it's -15 degrees, the snow often gets so hard that you don't sink down when walking on it. So Zack should be happy it's -15 and not warmer

You should be careful about advertising that in public forum... once all the Canadians see how nice and warm things are, they're all gonna come down and use New Jersey as a winter get-away destination!!

It was about -15 today where I am. Not too bad, but I'm glad that's about as cold as it ever gets...

Not really though - because the snow fell during the extreme cold so it's powdery. It's only really hard snow if it's established snow that went through some melting process.

With the windchill - it might get down to -25 degrees tonight, without the windchill it'll be -2. It's far worse in New England though - they're breaking century old records there. People can get frost bite in a matter of minutes.

We're supposed to be breaking a 1893 record tonight for cold here. The Hudson River is freezing -which is rare - although last year it froze for a short time too. But generally it does not freeze. The ferries are getting stuck and having a hard time getting to their slips.
