Oooooooh 10.10 is pretty. I've not upgraded to it yet on my laptop. I'm running Mint Helena (10) on my desktop and cannot seem to quite myself of her; I have things customized so nicely!
Bwahahaha! AMD rocks, fast, cheap, durable and stable enough to build upon. I've got the newer Deneb Phenom II 3.0 in mine. 8gb of ram means some awesome smoothness!

I've used Gloria for a while. Might upgrade to the next one in a while ... Helena, did you say?

Yep, Helena is the patron lady of my desktop. Gloria was a b!#*& though. could never get her to work right and she hated my wireless card. So ditched that broad and got me Helena shortly after giving it a twirl on my friend's laptop.

I've been brushing with hydrogen peroxide for the last few days, and my teeth feel super clean. O_o I just do it once a day.... then right afterward I brush with regular toothpaste and make sure to rinse my mouth out completely.
But dang. My teeth feel dentist clean. It even got rid of the little plaque-line around the bottom of my teeth that tons of flossing could never get rid of. Hooray. |

I'm happy because despite some trouble and the suggestion that my other forum would be deleted, it's still here

I'm so happy that I'm getting the two broken strings on my harp restrung tomorrow!!!!
Re-stringing a guitar is easy; re-stringing a harp isn't. You have to tie this weird little harp string knot, and usually you have to get someone to do it for you the first few times until you catch on. I finally got well enough after all the surgeries and complications to want to play my harp again, and played for about a week and loved it, then *BANG* went a string. Then when I tried to re-string it myself and was tightening the pin, I stupidly tightened the WRONG pin and *BANG* went another string! Then I had a bad relapse and was unable to drive the 45 minutes to the harp teacher I found to get it restrung. Now I'm slightly better again, and my husband is going to drive me and my harp to the teacher, and I think I'll video her re-stringing it if she doesn't mind. I SOOOOO want to play my harp again!!!!!! It's just so lovely and soothing and beautiful.

Hooray for improvements. I am glad that you seem to be feeling a tiny bit better, and I hope your full recovery is not far behind. Also hooray for the harp strings.
I'm getting a tiny fraction better at playing the guitar (I just started learning the Minuet in G by Bach today, which is SO pretty on guitar), which is fun and relaxing, aaaaaand today I completely fell in love with a $300 Baby Taylor guitar. It's like the mini Martin that I liked so much, but the sound is much, much "clearer" on the low strings. Glad I'm holding off till Christmas on the purchase. I'll probably change my mind another half dozen times between now and then. |

Number 3 son won his surfing competiton this morning- there were only 6 people in his category- 15 and under- but one of them was a 14-year-old pro from Japan, so he was pretty happy. Me too, even though I had to get up at 6 a.m. on Sunday to drive him to the beach.

I am teh Super Archer!!
Got back into it. Got a new horse! (Two, infact) Am training the mare to be my archery mount, and later her son, once he is old enough. I felt so...amazing yesterday when I took her out on our first tackless gallop. It was a wonderful feeling to be on the back of a fine horse, running over hill and through forest. I knew I missed it, but I didn't realize how much till I was in mid run with her. To realize that moment when you are no longer a rider perched atop a beast. The moment you realize that you move and breathe as one with the horse, is something quite special. Especially for the first time in the vast openness of the countryside, away from any arena after two years of training. *sigh* Sometimes life can be unbearably good. Maybe I will post pictures, later.

My family is getting all of the downstairs flooring replaced. Linoleum in kitchen is changing to tiles, and the carpet is turning into wooden floors.
I made a little recording this morning, because the flooring was gone, and all of the furniture was moved out, so the place was as live as a cathedral. I didn't sound very good, but I went ahead and put the video on facebook so that a couple of friends who haven't heard me in forever could hear something. So I'm happy that it's sort of like getting to sing for my friends again. |

Awesomes! Heh, you live in a carpeted cathedral? I'm not sure your house was built with acoustics in minds, so I am sure you sound good regardless.

i just gave my first general talk about ants for the general public :P for 45 minutes, i talked about the evolution, diversity and defence against parasites in ants, and the room was full (but only fit around 20 people). the average age was like 60, but that was fine, 'cause i didn't seem to confuse anyone, which i was afraid i'd do.
and it was fun! i like ants, and i like presentations.

I'm really happy right now. Finally saw some payoff for all of the painstaking work I've been doing with my voice for a while now. I feel like I'm having to start all over from the beginning, and I'm starting to face up to the reality that I'm talking about "improvement" taking months/years rather than trying to make change happen in one voice lesson, but a little of my anxiety is easing off.
I also think facing up to the fact that I wanted to quit, instead of trying to ignore it, was an enormous help. I still feel that way, but it's not as overwhelming. Whoo... deep breath, fingers crossed, but I think it's going to be okay. |

I suppose that facing up to it enables you to do something about it

I'm sitting here all cuddled up in my sofa, eating a delicious pie I made, watching/listening to the Last Night of the Proms of 2010 from Royal Albert Hall.
And there's gingerbread and lots of different teas in the kitchen just waiting for me.

I'm kind of excited. Might get to take some violin lessons... just for a change of pace, you know? I can sing, I can play piano a bit, I can play guitar a little bit... but I can't play any "orchestral, stringed" instruments at all. We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed. |
