Along similar lines with Chrys, I had wondered early if it was Vingilot, but wasn't sure if that met other critieria you've already hinted about it either.

i'm not very good at this, but i'll have a go

the power of dark should have been sent far away
but the golden hand was since led astray
now little feet shall tread in water
and two more sets should then not falter

That is a good guess LCoU. I don't think that Gandalf was ever more pure and white than he was for that ride. Also, it is connected to towers since the ride began at Durin's Tower. Yet the color of Gwaihir is not stated so it won't work for my riddle. Perhaps Gandalf alone might fit. In any event it is not even close to the answer i am seeking but it does show that you are thinking! Keep guessing please. All of you. In the meantime the white riddle is beginning to gain status as one of Keith K's more challenging posers!

Here it is again, now on its 4th page:

Pure and white.
Without stain or blight.
Soaring with pride
at a great height.

I'll take a shot at interpreting this one... Is the power of Dark Sauron? Is the golden hand Isildur? Do the treading feet belong to Deagol? And the two more sets Frodo and Sam?

That was a nice riddle LCoU! Don't sell your creative abilities so short...you are good at this and will only get better as you compose new riddles.

Orthanc? (the fume being the forge-fires of Saruman?)

Here's one for you:

My tale is not one for song,
Wretched and tormented so long.
Bauglir's most evil deed
The fate of my house decreed;
I pray my life would be forgot,
and the histories recall me not!

Another one

Misery of Elves,
Sorrow of Men:
Rivers of blood were spilled.
Wrought by themselves,
By treason again:
The Noldor's doom fulfilled.
