Following the scholarship was probably wise. Both my undergrad and grad work have been at schools which don't offer academic scholarships (since I turned down the schools which offered me academic ones), only need-based (for which I did not qualify). This is not financially fun.
But then, at least I get to feel like a starving scholar.
