ssssshhhhhh!!!

All the beavers on my farm are quite "mad", I'm training them into a well-oiled-machine of beast and fury. Actually, Mad-Beavers are very "IN" in NY, anyone who's anyone has one or two...I have loads!

We'll swim the St. Lawrence River, attack any lone ‘outpost’ or ‘snack-shack’ we come upon, then once we've secured Montréal, we'll call for lunch, perhaps something with gravy, then likely knock over, with random glee, any odd fellow who drinks decaffeinated coffee ...

I agree. MuchMusic, for example. I don't know why people listen to MTV over here.

I haven't been keeping up to date on my beloved country since I came over here. Med jag läser svenska.

Aha, but EarthBound, you forget our crack squad of Canadian Assassin Beavers. They're our national animal for a reason!

Wait a tick...The beaver is Oregon’s and New York’s state animal (who knows if it is with any others) AND Canada's national animal?

The beavers themselves seem to have elevated themselves quietly in importance politically! This could mean a new world political party is on the rise. They may call themselves:

1. Dam Yankees
2. The Brown & Wet Party
3. Beaver & FishHead Party (gratuitous Beavis & Butthead reference)
4. The Mad Beavers (also a good name for a rock band)

To beaver or not to beaver
Whether Oregonian or N'Yaakian
Or, alas Canadi-aan
That question to plebiscite put
Else shoot agenda in the foot
Or is that agent secretive,
Assassinative or relative ?

To be vere, vere, vere
I'd not.

Back to the important topic of North American Relations -- I think we should get some.

Ok Ok...Here's a question, how strong is Canada's relationship with France? What is its nature?

I suddenly feel like referencing cheese

While Chretien was PM - it seemed as if the relationship with France was quite strong. Quebedc seems to think of itself more associated with France than it does with Canada or anyone else. Although - now that the whole independence movement has died down - it seems as if it's starting to be accepting that it is part of Canada again. However Canada as a whole I think does not have strong ties to France. Canada may resent being close to the US and being like our little brother - but the fact remains that we have a strong bond - even if we do bicker and their politicians stump on Bush dolls.

That's just my observations from going over there many times and having many Canadian friends.

Some (one?) of our polititians stomped on a Bush doll? Oh man. That's a bit.. embarassing.

Québec does have strong cultural and historical ties to France. But I think people there are identifying more with Canada. Ever since the referendum seperatist support has been on the decline.

Our nation as a whole does have strong ties with the USA. I think some people resent it, but not all. Most people I think are either indifferent or feel at least a bit positive about it.

What if President Bush Had Met the Greatest Canadian?

There were those who believed that Bush would be heckled by the likes of Carolyn Parrish, who was recently kicked out of the Liberal Party caucus by Prime Minister Paul Martin. Parrish became the darling of the anti-American Left when in 2003 she shouted into an open microphone, “Damn Americans! I hate those bastards.” After Bush’s re-election last month, Parrish remarked that she was “dumbfounded” that Americans could re-elect a “war-like man.” Not to do outdo herself, Parrish went on a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) comedy show, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, to stomp on a voodoo doll of President Bush.
Quote:
Mixed reactions to announcement of Bush visit to Ottawa

OTTAWA - The reception President George W. Bush can expect later this month when he makes his first state visit to Ottawa is likely to be mixed, and that is causing some concern on Parliament Hill.

At least one Liberal MP will find it difficult to hide her distaste for the recently re-elected U.S. president. Carolyn Parrish didn't even try on Monday, playing along with CBC-TV's This Hour Has 22 Minutes by stomping on a George Bush action figure.

Parrish has been outspoken in the past, calling Americans "bastards" and mocking the U.S. plans for a missile defence shield by calling countries that follow the U.S. a "coalition of idiots."

She was basically fired.

i don't want to even go into the symbolism of any darling of the radical left stomping on Bush doll in leather boots and smiling because to do so would be to bring up the whole schema of the left that if you go along with us "we will be nice" and "if you don't, we'll stomp the feces out of you as soon as we get a chance and democratic process be damned". look at the sublime idiocy of that face as she un-sublimates her dominatrix tendencies in public! OOOOOh, Canada is right ( and it's easy to see who's getting their big O in this case) ! But I am sure the activity is protected under the special provisions of protection in Canada for deviancy. Does anyone have a signed consent form from the doll agreeing to be used in such a revolting manner? or is this just another abuse of property ownership devalued to "I own it and that means I can destroy it" ?

i'm embarrassed that we actually have "action figures" of our presidents

the thought of giving some kid that for a gift boggles the imagination

Well, it's rubbish, and I find it in bad taste and disrespectful.
