I graduate high school today, and leave with a grant from my college of choice and a scholarship I earned for high ACT scores and "excellent writing skills."

Congratulations, Starr!!! Best of luck in the future. I certainly understand how you recieved a grant for your "excellent writing skills", just based on what I've read in the Writer's Forum.

You are in a very exciting phase of your life right now. Don't let all the new things that are going to come at you all at once intimidate you. There are many new things to learn and many new friends to make!!

Enjoy your summer!

Congratulations, Starr! That's awesome (and no surprise about the writing skills). How long do you guess it will be before you enter college?

Accomplishment? Happy? News?... I don't know for sure:

Last January I was the only one to show up and offer myself to fill a vacancy at my son's school's 'Local School Council' (LSC) - so I got on it. In April, I went into the general election for the hotly contested spots (three 'community rep' candidates ran for two spots - and only five parents ran for six spots, so I was a 'shoo-in' once again! Those 8 (or 7 in this case) plus 2 teachers and the principal make up the LSC).

Anyway - yesterday I had required 'training'... it was all day long! I didn't have to do much other than sit and listen... but I ENDURED! It was scheduled for 12 hours (8:30 am to 8:30 pm), but they ended up doing it in 10. Yay! Otherwise it seemed a poor use of a Saturday... maybe (like, I think it could have been done in 4-6 hours!).

Another nice thing: it was held at the library of a local high school - and they had a REAL NICE display of Tolkien books! 'The Hobbit', each of the LotR books, the Silmarillion - plus a bio and some books about the movies. They had multiple copies of each. Anyway, being a fan (and some would say - a bit 'anal-retentive' ) I organized the books to put them in order since they were all mixed up! We don't want our students starting with 'Two Towers', then 'Silmarillion' moving on to 'Return', then 'Hobbit' and lastly 'Fellowship' now, do we?

Yeah, well I'm still wondering why you stopped halfway and then ran out in front of the crowd. Mind you, that in itself was mildly arousing...

Am I ever going to get the whole show in one go, or just bits and pieces here and there?

Hmmm.....accomplishments. Don't really do that stuff.

Before tossing aside my theological studies due to lack of interest, I was at the top of my class, which meant I had the highest scores in the country (since UNISA is a national university), and two of my essays (albeit basic, introductory pieces) had been published by an online theological journal. So much for that, then.

Hahaha, I wonder what the lecturers thought when they stopped receiving my assignments...

I filled over three hundred sandbags today in the sun and didnt pass out, then I went out and almost killed about three people, thankfully for them, they stopped being a threat as soon as they started (looking down the barrel of a 25mm autocannon from the front seat of your car usually sets your mind right), so no one had to die.
