Lacrosse was invented by the Iroquois, who's traditional territory is now on the Canadian side of the border. Though, some of it might be on the American side, so maybe that was a bad example.

As for hockey, the Canadian national teams, both men and women, won gold in the last winter Olympics. That's probably a better test since all the members of the team were actually Canadian. But whatev. Americans are good at hockey too, we just invented it.

And we invented basketball. (James Naismith.)

You didn't invent basketball - it was invented in Massachusetts by him - he just happened to be Canadian. He was living in the USA, working for the YMCA, when they asked him to come up with a sport which could be played indoors.

Canada is always trying to lay claim to Basketball.

A Canadian invented it. Though some of the development probably came from the players at the YMCA. We co-invented it then.

Actually I don't really care about basketball at all. And I don't care about hockey all that much either.
