A strange encounter
Hruad was somewhat astonished by this weird form of entry- he didn't think that he'd ever seen the man before. "And what is your name, sir?" he asked.

Another strange encounter
"Ah, sir?" a soldier asked cautiously from behind Athalt.
He turned his head and looked the soldier in the eyes. "We have a problem." "Who are you?" Athalt demanded as he saw the enormous stone being put the horse back on its feet. The other soldiers that stood around the small scene were fingering the pommels of their swords. The enormous creature swiveled its head toward him, and as it did so the tree that stood beside it came alive, taking a couple steps forward. Athalt resisted the urge to reach up and rub his eyes . . . this simply couldn't be happening! What were these creatures? "My name is Bushbark," the tree introduced himself, "and this is Boulderhead." "Your man tied his horse to my nose!" the boulder objected loudly. "You look like a pile of rocks when sleeping," Bushbark reminded him gently. "He couldn't have known." "Especially as we've never heard of your species before," Athalt told him. "I'm an Ontor," Boulderhead said. Athalt's eyes flicked upward to Bushbark. "It's true," Bushbark told him. "I didn't doubt that, I was wondering what you were." "An ent. Don't tell me you've never heard of ents!" "I have heard of them," Athalt said, "and I had heard the rumors that they had taken up residence in the woods nearby NĂ©red. But I had never seen one." |

"We will be on our way again in about fifteen minutes," Athalt told him. "We're only stopping here to eat our midday meal, before continuing on our trip."
He turned around and started back toward the front of the line. |

Athalt halted midstep and turned around, a bemused expression on his face. "Soldiers aren't miners."

The next morning when I woke up Gil was already awake. I pulled out some maps from a conciled(sp) place in my pack and started tracing our route with my fingers showing Gil the way we were headed. "We're about a days journey from Sarn Ford on the Brandywine River. From there we will head South East to Tharbad Bridge(is it a bridge I can't tell from my maps)on the Greyflood. We will make a stop in Enedwaith before continuing to the city of Lond Daer. At Lond Daer we will get a boat and sail to the mouths of the Anduin. We will take the third mouth from the left and sail up it to Minas Tirith," I said and when Gil asked why we were stopping in Enedwaith instead of going straight to Lond Daer I continued and explained, "We are going to Enedwaith because there is a pipe-weed that only grows there and I am partial to it."

Imarwyn's hand lay already on the hilt of her knive as soon as she saw the stone-creature but she thought better of it. The creature, ontor as it called itself seemed to be made up from real stone. No knive would avail against that. Luckily the ontor didn't seem to be evil and he was accompagnied by an ent, which Imarwyn knew as usually good creatures. She hoped the ent would be able to keep the ontor's temper in check. Being crushed by the rocky hands of the ontor was not a future Imarwyn wished to pursue.
To have something else to do than stare at the two large creatures that had appeared in the middle of the camp, Imarwyn moved over to the horse that the ontor had put down. The horse looked a bit dazed, not being used to be lifted in the air like that it hestated between either kicking the ontor or bolting.Neither option would have been a good choice but Imarwyn managed to calm it and she led it away to a safe distance from the ontor. "Well if anything, Enedwaith sure is a eventfull place." she said half to herself. The horse made no comment to disagree.

Aasinav looked the two over carefully.
"My name is Aasinav, and I am a... researcher, of sorts. My research, of late, was in the Barrow Downs - and it was there I noticed the spell hanging like a fell cloud over your kingdom. A few questions with... parties who are involved in such matters turned up your name as a concerned citizen of your country. And so I thought to bring the matter... to you."

"I see," Hruad said, exchanging glances with Elise. "This woman's name is Elise Too'nonath."
Aasinav bowed slightly. "Would you care to join us?" he asked, offering him a place on the sofa next to Elise. Aasinav complied. "Now you say that you noticed this spell at the Barrow Downs?" Elise asked. "How do you mean 'noticed' it? And why was it at the Barrow Downs that you noticed this spell?" Aasinav looked a little taken aback at the flood of questions. Hruad got up and walked over to the backside of his room to pour them some wine. |

''Errr...where do we go from now, bushbark?'' I said turning to my friend.
''Well I'm sure these excelent fellows, down there wouldn't mind letting us come with them.'' Bushbark looked down on Athalt. (is it allright if I say athalt?) I sat down on the Ground again nearly sitting on some of the soldiers. ''Sorry!'' I said apoligizing. I took out some Ontor Draught and took a swig.

"Err.. well I am really not sure. I am beginning to like being impetuos, but I thought you had a plan of where we should go."
Bushbark sat next to Boulderhead. "What do you propose? I would do anything that makes me happy or other beings happy! And right now a dose of adventure would make me happy!" |

Athalt shook his head a little once again and continued back off toward the front of the line. His troops had finished eating, so the time of relaxing was over. They had seen strange things that day, but Athalt would have to put them in his memory, to think about on a later occasion. The earth was more alive than it had seemed to be. Elves had taught the ents to speak in the beginning, so the tales told. Perhaps they had given the same gift to the Ontors? It was speculation; he'd leave such thoughts for later.
Seizing his saddle horn, Athalt swung up onto his horse. "Forward," he gave the order, and spurred his horse onward. |

We reached the downs in No-Time at all. ''Well...It's quite foresty! And old, and dark, and rocky, and marshy, It's everything at the same time. Oh! By the way...There are Legends of Wraith creatures that wander about. I daresay that we'll be abkle to handle them Ey! Bushbark!'' I said turning to my friend. ''Yes, We shall!'' And at that we entered the Old Forest Into The downs.
