The is probably very easy, but here it is anyway.
What is the name of the river that flows into the Nimrodel, which in turn flows into the Anduin?

We're supposed to answer purely from memory, without referring to our books, right?

IMO, and this mind you is just my opinion, but shouldn't the trivia answers come just from recall, memory? If we can all reference books, then where's the fun, the challenge? I mean, maybe to some people it's a cheap thrill to be "right" all the time, but if it's "right" when any other sentient being with a knowledge of how to read and reference books can be "right"... it's truly kinda unfair to people like Chrys or anyone else well-versed in Tolkien from many long hours of careful, retentive reading. Othwerwise, WHAT is the point of testing one another's trivia-retention capabilities?

This isn't for money, it's for fun Some members might have more to do than to memorize the entire works of Tolkein but still retain a desire to play trivia. Believe me, the questions are good and not all are easy. Oh, and don't get me started on "sentinent beings" or we'll have to open another thread.
Some are unconscious.

Just an easy one- How many days did it take Gandalf to reach Weathertop from Bree?

Wow, I got it right! Hmmm, my question is...
In Fellowship (the book), who was the first one to physically touch the Ring besides obviously Frodo who had it in his possesion already?

Did Gandalf actually lay hands on the metal of the Ring? I thought he wouldn't touch it, I think I need to check my own facts. I'm thinking of someone else, it wasn't Gandalf I was thinking of - so hold on a sec, be right back -

Yeah, that's who I was thinking of -Tom Bombadil touched the Ring first, and had no problem with it. If you and I are correct, Chrys, then it's your turn.
