My god - how did I miss such a huge thread?
Good luck, probably.

A few comments:

- I agree - if we talked about women like you girls talk about the men we'd be labelled sexist shallow pigs
- Play girl / samwise - you DO know the relevance of play girl's avatar? Like Wayfarer, I find it amusing Popular culture gets so popular it loses it's meaning
- Women in FotR - I don't even count Arwen. She looks like a pig-dog to me
- Wayfarer - I'm a little concerned over your definition of women

What's the relevance? Or do I not want to know?

Try going to playboy.com.
I've not made it a URL cos I don't want people to just click on it.
Bear in mind that if you are young (under 18) don't look.
If you are easily offended, don't look.
If you are a teenage american boy using AOL, you'll have already looked

If you don't want to go, then the symbol is that of Playboy - a soft-porn magazine and video company.

So now - do Play-girl and Sam know the meaning? My guesses are that Play-girl does (cos of her name) and Sam probably doesn't cos she's too young

Gerbil, just because I'm 14 and just becuse I am homeschooled doesn't mean I'm totally dense and so protected I think that babies come from cabbage patches or storks. I'm smart enough and unprotected enough to know what Playwhatsit is.

*curses at self* I guess I didn't want to know . . .
Gerbil, if you think Sam is too young, I'm definitely too young!

Well...ungoliant WAS female... The thing is, in relation to the males in LOTR, females had practically nothing! The three with the longest appearances were goldberry, eowyn and rosie. Oh, and shelob/ungoliant. Heh.
Get away from Sam. He is mine.

Does my avatar picture look like a pig to you?
Do they have small furry pigs that go *squeak* in your part of the world?

Hey Sam, I wasn't saying you are dense, simply that it was (to me) a reasonable assumption that a young girl would not necessarily have stumbled across a particular brand of soft porn.
In fact, I was kind of hoping you girls wouldn't know. Kids today sheesh.

And dare I ask why some of you youngsters are homeschooled? We don't really have that over here, so I don't know why it happens.

You know, genetic manipulation and cloning these day. For all I know you could be an genetically engineered superintelligent lizard with wings escaped from a lab hiding somewhere in the sewers with a laptop...

Earnel has at last uncovered the truth about Gerbil!

Look at those weird shifty steadily blinking eyes, unnatural I say!
I knew it! I knew it!

Regarding my list...

That entire list was sarcastic in origin. Seriously. I left out the barbs when I brought it over to this forum.

Regarding the playboy bunny...
I still find that amusing. But I hope there aren't any girls here who would wear clothing with the logo of a porn company.

actually wayfarer, one of my friends (a fellow Tolkien addict, although not a mooter) recently bought a T-shirt with the playboy bunny and the words "Kiss Me!"

make what you will of that
