Yeah I suppose it was OK, but the title is a bit misleading don't you think?

I thought some of the themes intervowen in the movie was a bit forced (like Jake's sudden realisation of his responsibilities / search for redemption). Besides - as with all sequels the "punch" wasn't really there was it? It's like they just decided to throw together a plot based on a winner because everyone wanted to know "What now" at the end of Warriors.

He never really answers the question posed in the title - does anyone really forgive Jake? And what about Beth, her pain was the most obvious, yet she isn't really treated as a warrior is she? Again the females are reduced to only being warriors at heart, while the men have all the fun.

yeah it has nothing on Once Were Warriors...
yeah i didnt think there was a need for a sequel but anyways... it had its good points (Jake going insane with a wrench) and poor Nig being killed... i thought it was good how it could be serious as all hell but mix a bit of humour back into it aswell (Once were warriors that is)
there was some ****up with the gang wasnt there... Toa was actually a real gang over in NZ and they had to change it?

Using the real gang as it were would have hit too close to home I think, people like watching movies based on reality or with a certain amount of real elements, but they do not want to face the fact that these things are actually real, it forces us to acknowledge the truth - that we aren't living in a perfect world. Already the violence etc scared some people away, imagine telling them that not only is the movie violent, it's real & it happens every day....

I enjoyed the rape scene in Warriors (OK not enjoy, that's the wrong word - read appreciated??), it was prolly the truest reflection of what rape really is - and also the woman's reaction after the event - very powerful & it seemed to bring home the idea that parking lot rape by strangers is not the prevalent form of assault, usually it is by family members / people that you know. Also in other movies they tend to move to some form of female "empowerment" after a rape case, whereas in Warriors they treated it the way society generally does - the victim is ashamed of what happened & wants to hide away from the world. Also the shower afterward as if trying to erase all memory of it (though it did catch up with her in the end didn't it?)

Well then for you (ignore smily face - except the tongue sticking out part).

Whose fault is it that Aussies cannot handle their drink & need to consume smaller amounts than the rest of the world? Here we drink quarts (I think there's 750ml in that or maybe 1L) of Castle & Black Label

You might like honey know, just wait for the ants to get you you little..............argh

About Nig - I woulda done the same, that guy was really being a d*ck! Jake packs a good punch though, but I didn't like the fact that he seemed to think it's ok to use Beth as target practise

Ja, but Jean Claude van Damme is an ass!

Try 17L wine, 2 Bottles vodka, ½ bottle whiskey & about 4 quarts & you'll be closer to getting me f***ed *hic*

What other movies do you like, besides Warriors?

Gladiator, Last of the Mohicans (so we have that in common already)

Traffic
From Dusk til Dawn ('cos it's quite cool to see Salma Hayek suck )
I liked Braveheart too

Ag, there are quite a lot - I like action movies with a real story - or rather dramas with a lot of action?

And of course the animated gems - Hercules, Shrek, Mulan etc - I'm still a kid at heart

But I wasn't just referring to movies

Young & Dangerous? Rings a bell but I don't think I've watched it yet - will have to since it comes so highly recommended

I like SA movies too - Fiela se Kind, Paljas, Jock of the Bushveld etc, but I don't think you'd have seen any of them, we have a very small industry.

What do you mean near perfect? I don't inflict pain on you do I? Besides you said you could handle it..........

I promise I won't hurt you (again)

I'm sure you'll be able to get Jock of the Bushveld somewhere - it's a really beautiful story, not really action but still.

Paljas was shortlisted for an Oscar Nomination years ago in the category "Best Foreign Film"

Blah - I wish the radio will stop playing Sk8ter Boi now

*sorry wrong thread - should move it to Venting*

See - I have some redeeming qualities, now if only my boss would believe that I'm not totally cuckoo
