I just saw it, it was really good. I saw it with the long ago lost 'mooter ents89. she's sitting right her right now, so she might reply, I don't know. I was crying so much, it was really touching and awsome. I just loved all of it. JESUS LIVES!!!

I can't imagine why I would want to sit through 2 hours of watching someone (and a supposedly really wonderful someone at that) being graphically tortured to death. I mean, isn't that basically what this is? Gosh, After that depressing ordeal, I'd start thinking of the thousands of other people who met the same fate as Jesus of Naz., then on to the countless hordes persecuted in the coliseum, then all the gazillions who had lord knows what I don't even know about done.... I think I'll pass on this cinematic moment.

I'm not going to go see it either because of that. I just can't handle that amount of gore. It's serious gore, not Kill Bill type fluff.

wow, they wouldn't let you in? i'm 16 and i went to see it yesterday. hmmm...
well, i can definetly say it was a powerful movie, but i'm not quite sure i liked it. i suppose i'm a pretty weird catholic since i didn't walk out of the theater bawling my eyes out (as a matter of fact, i didn't cry at all) but i still could feel the emotion of the movie. i thought the demons were cool; the way they did satan was awesome- i could never quite picture him as a red, horned beast.

Oh my gosh! This is a beautiful movie! I'm not trying to gush here or anything- I didn't cry either when I saw it (well, a few tears here and there, but I certainly didn't bawl)- but it was definately a beautiful movie. Jim.. (I can't spell his last name) did an excellent job of portraying Jesus, and with the exception of a few moments, I think he was pretty much flawless. The other actors did very well, IMO, most notably (to me) the fellows who played Pilate and Simon of Cyrene, and the woman who played Mary the mother of Jesus. Peter was great too, but then he's my favorite apostle. I thought Satan was done very well (although I didn't understand him holding that repulsive baby during the scourging scene- which, by the way, was one of the most powerful scenes in the movie).
My favorite parts in the movie were when Eve's Seed crushes the serpent under His heel, and the very end, when the Risen One walks away from the tomb- I felt like cheering both times. I saw it last Saturday, and when I went into church on Sunday, I felt such an appreciation for what my Savior did for me! God is so good to me!!! p.s. He is RISEN!

When my church blocked 1000 tickets for the church and the youth group, in order for the youth group to see it they required the youth to have parental consent forms before they were allowed to have a ticket.

well that seems normal, it is MA here and if you are under 15 you have to see it with your parents, and im guessing a few of these youth groups (reminds me of a book i once read called the Gathering ) would be under 15 yes?

It's R-16 here, which means if you're under 16, you can't see it, period. That's pissed off a lot of christians....

i think there is a certain degree of fanaticism surrounding this movie that can cause people to lose their sense of judgement a bit
i was sitting with my soon to be six-year-old after work the other day watching CNN... they had a short piece with clips from the movie, fairly bloody stuff... the first thing out of his mouth "is that a new lord of the rings movie?"... i couldn't help but laugh

Thr movie was very well done, and very powerful.
my five yr old sis went with me and my parents to see it, and wasnt "traumatized" or afraid at all. the one who was afraid was my 7 yr old sister. I would have preferred that they hadnt watched it, but It wasnt bad for them do so [watching it]. I have absolutely no clue as to why people are accusing this movie of anti-semitism. to me, in the movie it was the romans who were the horrible cruel ones; more so than the jews. so I think that the only reason why people are attacking it for being "anti semitic" is because they have a problem with christianity in general (im talking about people who are not jewish, but who accuse this movie of anit semitism). you cant judge this movie untill you see it. the reason so many critics despise and harshly criticise this movie is because it isnt at all like those tame blue eyed jesus movies. it demands a "spiritual" response; in a way, and athiests and critics cant seem to respond except by harsh unjust criticism. as Gibson said in an interview: "you see diane [the interviewer], critics and people who have a problem with me and my movie; dont really have a problem with me and my movie. they have a problem with the gospels." and so why are so many critics attacking it? they didnt attack "the gospel of john", a recent jesus movie released before gibson's. its because this movie scares them, IMO, and its powerful, and moving. YOU CANNOT JUDGE THIS MOVIE BEFORE YOU SEE IT go see it.

i agree... i actually don't censor what my kids can watch very much at all... or what they can or can't believe religion-wise... however, you can't make that choice for other people's children in a public school atmosphere... at least without asking consent from the parents in advance
on the critics... it's just something to talk about, and gibson's a big name... i think very few of them mean it as an attack against christianity... some just think the violence is a bit surreal and unnecessary i haven't seen it myself, but will be looking forward to seeing for myself one of these days and making my own judgement on it

I did not post above ^^ review, btw.
I have seen the movie twice. A very powerful and well-done film. My thing is, I'm not sure if it really is appropriate to depict Christ in any movie, play or whatever. Only because, I just don't think any person can even try to understand the enormity of this sacrifice. Its funny...I was speaking to my sister about the movie before it was released. We were talking about how people were saying things about Gibson making the Jews look evil in the film and all that. I kept saying "Well, there are so many movies about the holocaust that, of course, make the Germans in it look very wicked. No one ever said that was wrong." And later, I watched an interview with Mel Gibson and he used the same example!

well ive seen it and im very anti-christianity and all but i did appreciate this movie as a damn fine film, well made, well cast, good story etc, its not really focusing that much on the spiritual side, to me it seems to be the more 'real' side to the story, and you can respect Jesus for what he went through...
