Attalus! Great to see you around. Do you also look in regularly, or did you just happen to come by after a long absence?

Hi, ho, everybody. I love this place and I would love to be arguing about Tolkien in addition to WWII. Snarking indeed! *smacks Attalus*

Nerwen - check out the newer threads. Alcuin's are much more interesting than mine. If you wish to argue the point, that's fine, but I think I'll win.

Hah, them fightin' words, methinks. Although I rather pick a fight with you, Val, than with Alcuin, I can't match his research. Or yours when it concerns calendars.

Hi, Nerwen!
There wasn't a lot of Tolkien arguing for a while, but there has been some more lately. Enjoy!

Good job on the kicking, Earn!
I still check in once a while, but have been scarce lately.

Hi Mari, nice to see you here again. But... What's a girl like you doing in a place like THIS?
Everyone else, what's shakin'?

Oh my... March 25 already! The day the Ring was destroyed, the Dark Tower fell and Sauron was defeated!

Hope you all had a lovely Easter.
Mine started with a pre-dawn excursion into the garden, depositing chocolate eggs in water-tight containers (thank you, lousy april-weather) at easily found locations. The sacrifices an auntie has to make... |

We never grew up with the egg hunting thing. I still think it's ridiculous. Instead I watched the church on TV, but it was very disappointing: we didn't sing a single Easter hymn.
So I've decided to redo Easter today. So there.

Fortunately for you, it's the Orthodox Easter today. So you're not alone. Is there a church nearby that you'd be interested in attending in the future? For Easter or otherwise?

I've grown up with egg-hunting so it feels completely natural to me. The only gripe I have about it is that our local tradition is that the Easter Bells bring the chocolate eggs and not the more commonly known Easter Bunny. And some people get very insistant that it's the Bunny, not the Bells and that Bells are silly. (Because a Bunny, which is actually a hare, that brings chocolate eggs is not in itself any less silly.) Whereas I think that one make-belief egg-bringer is as good as the next one and if I want to get eggs from the Bells I bloody well should be able to! Let it be silly!

I have never seen a bunny leave chocolate eggs: They always leave chocolate jelly beans. No good for eating, I'll bet.

I am a member of a church, but my husband planned to go to a congress, playing taxi for a few people, without notifying me. My church is reachable by bike, but if it's raining I'm too lazy and just watch the church service on TV. :P
