Yes, Valandil - to my riddle, it is Turin's sword. The name was Anglachel, and then Gurthang. I think.

What do you think about my original riddle then? Was it good enough?

Yes - I think there was enough there to lead someone to it eventually. It was good as you did it!

Ok., thanks Val. I'll try another one:

Descendent of kings,
The glowing star.
Was born in Hithlum,
and killed afar.

here is an easy peasy one:

Faint memory of something great
Red and gold means my name
Fairest of all Ithilien
My home is like an anchored ship

A great knight,
Comes from the light.
He is known of his horn,
with it he chases the darkness away.

Rad... Orome?

Christiana... trying to think of this and haven't looked at a map yet... but recently had done some research on something else and saw that "cul..." is a prefix meaning 'golden red' or something like that. Does the place-name start with that? (and does that help anybody ELSE solve her riddle?)

Yes. I'll try another one:

A small yellow star,
Yellow like Anar,
Can be sometimes found near the pale snow,
In the land of Lothlorien.

Rather hard... and the first two lines sound silly. But try it anyway, the best I can do.

You keep guessing my riddles correctly.

Are they all so obvious?

Btw - I found no name in the index that starts with 'cul...'

Another one. :sigh: I'm going to make it very shady, so beware.

I was first in the West,
Beautiful and fair.
Then came the darkness
And I was taken and carried all over Arda.

:sigh: Again you're right.
I'm determined to make a hard riddle though. What about:

I'm the smallest of Seven,
And have a tresure, gold -
Given to me by dwarves
in a terrible war.

Rad, that was LCoU who got your last one, not me. As for the others, maybe we just think alike! Actually, the 'elanor' I always remember because of how Frodo advised Sam to name his daughter after those lovely yellow flowers of Lorien!

Another thought about Christiana's... (and it is NOT 'easy peasy'! ), the island Cair Andros was said to be like an anchored ship... was there some kind of pretty bird or flower or something particular to that island?

That river, Ascar (later Rathlóriel) where the dwarves threw all the gold from the treasuries of Menegroth?
