Tolkien said:
"I am not at all happy about the title 'the Two Towers'. It must if there is any real reference in it to Vol II refer to Orthanc and the Tower of Cirith Ungol. But since there is so much made of the basic opposition of the Dark Tower and Minas Tirith, that seems very misleading." The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien No 143, dated 1954 Tolkien also considered at least five other combinations of the towers of Barad-dûr, Cirith Ungol, Minas Morgul, Minas Tirith and Orthanc, and it seems that he never settled on a definitive identity for the eponymous towers.

Lotesse, where does it say that in the book? My copy doesn't have it in the introduction or the synopsis.

Say what? You mean - no, that's from "Letters," if you're tryna gently tell me to just answer the question as put forth within the text of The Two Towers, well, i WOULD but I can't find it yet. Still lookin'.
I always thought the two towers were Orthanc and Minas Morgul.

No, no, I thought you were stating where the answer was and I couldn't find it. It will be interesting to see where *in the book* Rconsole says it is.

O.K., thanx Rconsole, but in the future, please remember we are supposed to create trivia questions from the CONTENTS of the actual story writings of Lord of the Rings, not from the introcdution or whatever. Well, now you know!
Who was it who had his bow cocked and ready to shoot Smeagol for fishing in Henneth Annun?
