Oops. Cross-posted with my edit.
IMO, the term "LOT-eR" seems a little more fitting, if only because "LOTRer" is hard to say. But really, the acronym is the quickest way to refer to LOTR other than "Ring" because we definitely don't want to be called "Lorders"... right? Actually...

And oh, yes. I am currently in love with everything LoZ. (Incidentally, are the fans of LoZ called "Zelders"? )
I watch LPs of Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess while I work. I want to find the time to see a Majora's Mask LP but I've never played it before, so I don't want to be distracted by work while I watch it.

Actually, I don't believe there is a so-called term for Zelda fans, we're just Zelda fans hahaha
I haven't played MM yet either! Can you believe that? Just haven't gotten around to buying it for virtual console yet, since I don't have my N64 anymore. Have you listened to the 25th Anniversary soundtrack yet that came with SS? It's amazing, I listen to it all the time. Recently it's taken its place of the LotR soundtracks :3

I thought we were Tolkienites.
OK: This, this "Ringers" sounds profoundly lame and obnoxious, as if it comes from someone trying desperately to make the moniker "happen," and the more I think about it the more irrationally irritated I find myself becoming. WHAT A STUPID NAME FOR US! We're Tolkien fans, we're Hobbit-heads, we're LOTRers or whatever, but we are NOT THAT. *mutters angrily to self, brow furrowed*

Hm, I kinda like Hobbit-heads. Never heard it before either, but I like it.
Still, won't be identifying myself as a 'Ringer' anytime soon. Especially because the word already has an established other meaning, two even if you take the saying 'to be a dead ringer for somebody' into account. Seriously, can't they come up with, I dunno, something a bit more original? |

Hmm, not sure what all the fuss is about. I, personally, prefer Literati if I am to wear any sort of label. Might as well be high-brow about it.

And the term focuses totally on that one book out of Tolkien's works, and he wrote so much more than that (although not all of it got published during his lifetime). I am more than just a Ringer ...

I kind of like Ringer. I think it's fun.
Tolkienite is nice, too. |

Only if you pronounce the 'g' with a 'j' sound - so that it sounds sort of like 'Ranger'.
Otherwise, a 'ringer' means something else. Like if a team in a park district softball league brings in a professional baseball player - that person is a 'ringer'.

But we still have our N64 and Ocarina of Time (whew!) That's what I thought of "Ringer" too. But I like your interpretation with the different pronunciation.

The rest of us can pick our title... My two favorite nominees are Hobbit-heads or Tolkienites.

I don't have that enabled.
*pushes limping Earn in chair and makes her a cuppa* You seem to need it more than I do... Meanwhile I'm trying to protect my food from the cats who both just had their own food. For some reason they can't seem to stop salivating over mine though...

That's a common thing with cats, they never can remember where their food bowl ends and somebody else's begins... |

Yeeeeah, no. We're talking cats here. Cats couldn't care less about hierarchy and social cohesion. Packs are for dogs since they just don't know better.
I see we're nearing the 1000 post limit, anyone interested in starting a new Teacup? This one lasted quite a while. |

One word: lions.
I was absent, so don't have an idea who should start the next one. I wouldn't even remember the rituals.

Them are prides. That's a whole other ball game. Lions are a bit dim, especially the males. The moment a lion figures out all it had to do is find a human, meow at it piteously and treat the human with absolute disdain once food has been produced, prides will be a thing of the past.
Oh, since when does opening Teacups require rituals? Ah well, I'll open the new one just because we're at the mark now, but the moment anyone's start sprinkling around chickens blood or anything, I'm out. If you would all would care to pass through this giant rabbithole, if you please. |
