Why is it left and right have two(2) meanings(left- direction, leave past tense, right- direction, correct) but up and down only have one?

Actually the word politic is from the Greek 'polis' which refers to a city and the surrounding countryside. Thus Politic just means 'of the city'. No bloodsucking parasites I'm afraid, though it does make an amsuing pun.

Different paint colors for parking lot lines?

Another 'mysterys of life thread', why are some lines in parking lots yellow and some white? And right next to each other as often as not!
