Lol... I went to two proms and I didn't stress about them either
 Bought dresses, got my hair done, did my own make up... had fun lol... And now the only way I can even THINK about getting married is to have it as low key as possible lol... I'm kind of a strange girl... as my fiance never misses an opportunity to tell me Lol.. I think I'm going to get a dress.. it probably won't be white.. it'll probably be tea or cocktail length and I want to be able to wear it again lol...

The thing about a wedding is, it's an opportunity to get the support of your community, whoever that is.
Your personal contract, the two of you and whoever you consider the supervisor of the universe, that's a marriage. You don't need fancy clothes or a piece of paper for it. But a wedding brings in the community. And that can be very helpful. And deserves an occasion, imo.

I think that's true about a wedding... but for our case.. we're split across two continents right now lol... so it's more about us, about being able to be together... and then making a home together...
Right now we haven't really got a single community to bring in... I'm more looking forward to the after wedding being married stuff than anything, anyway lol

Well, you don't need it, but if you decide you are going to get married anyway I would at least make something special out of it by going out for dinner or something and not showing up in my everyday-clothes.
But that's just me I must say though, the whole big wedding thing doesn't appeal to me much.

Lol well... we're gonna be dressed up! I dunno what we'll do afterwards... but we haven't even got a date set yet so... there's time to figure that stuff out..
I just like things very simple, not to make a big fuss or go to a lot of trouble and expense lol... I dunno, if that makes me weird.. then weird I am!

Naw, not weird. What's the point of inviting distant relatives or people you don't even like and spend a lot of money on a wedding? The money would be better spent on a nice vacation trip

Yeah, that's pretty much how i look at it too, Mari... plus I have so much other stuff to worry about in terms of legal stuff and visas... I'd rather not add wedding planning to that list
