I just discovered that PJ originally casted another woman for the part of Eowyn.
Her name is Alison Doody. She got pregnant and so Miranda Otto got the part. When I look at pictures of both I have to say that Miranda Otto was the better choice. She has not such a sweet Doll-Face like the other woman. Alison Doody

I hadn't realized that Alison Doody was originally cast as Eowyn. This appears to be yet another example of how the fates conspired to help Jackson create his masterpiece. No one could have played Eowyn better than Miranda Otto, including Alison Doody.

*blink* Not a very good Eowyn, but she's sure purty!

She is quite pretty, but I miss the Eowyn-cold-face, that Miranda Otto played so well.

I think Miranda Otto portrayed Eowyn very well, and I can't really picture the other woman as her.
Eowyn was portrayed very well in TTT, compared to what they did to poor Faramir and the Ents anyway. And i can't really picture that other woman doing the sword swinging scene |

I thought Eowyn was portrayed well, especially when she blew off Grima. I thought it was important that they had that sword thing between her and Aragorn shows the audiemce that she knows the tricks of the trade. I liked the way that they showed that she liked Aragorn, but not to such a degree that, like Black Breathalizer said, it turned into a crappy love triangle.

Besides all that, Miranda Otto's rather prettier than Allison Doody, especially in the scene with GrĂ*ma. Love her outfits! I love PJ's interpretation of Eowyn, much better than his portrayal of Arwen.

I disagree. I think Allison Doody's considerably prettier. She is one of the few whom I would call 'beautiful', from that picture. (Maybe she should have gotten a black wig and been Arwen!)
But I do think it highly unlikely that she could have equalled or topped Miranda Otto's performance of Eowyn.

Oh! Ms. Doody seems better to me too! She looks sterner, and fairer, and older.
The scene where Aragorn is leaving with the fellowship, and Arwen is looking at him....what did they do to her there! Those giant ears make her look like she is 15. She looks sick, elves should not look sick! Even if the "love of their life" is leaving on a perilous adventure!

I wouldn't say that she seems sterner, or older than Miranda Otto.

I agree, Miranda Otto is an excellent choice for Eowyn. (How many times have I said that now... )
