It's actually been agreed upon? It's certain? What's your source for this piece of news?

Sidenote: I wish we could get the buffalo herds swarming our plains again, along with the African lions .

Yep, Game ranches. I hate them. Cause no matter how big the ranch, the creature is still trapped, and all you have to do is set out in one direction to a fence and you will run into a bunch of game. And yes, my uncle's college buddy has one of these ranches and they do indeed bring over old lions cheetas and leopards. Really pricey to get a shot at them though. 50k for an old male lion i believe.

But its absolutely stupid, its not even hunting. you are required to bring a very high powered rifle and scope, sit in a clearing while carcasses and food are brought out and put intfront of you and the poor creature comes to eat.....That boils my arse.

That's exactly the epitome of what disgusts me about the concept of "modern hunting." Exactly that. How pathetic, chickens88t and ethically backward can a human being get? Boils my arse, too. Unbelieveable.

Now...dont get me wrong, game ranches are rare...and most of the hunters here indeed do hunt in the wild....those places are freaking expensive, even if you arent shooting exotics-as they call em- so most hunters cant afford it.

Even so, I dont like gun hunting....I like shooting guns...but not hunting with them.

I'm putting up my bow now that I live in Hawaii, but I think I will go back for winter...can take only so much sunnyness. All of my family have been bow hunters...so...we view hunting perhaps a little differently and with more respect to what we are hunting. I used to roam around for weeks hunting because there were thousands of acres that I could hunt in....I'm missing it already.

Yep....like i said at the beginning, where i lived, there wasnt a grocery store for around 80 miles. We used (still do) every part of the deer we kill as well, so no waste.

Then, I see nothing at all wrong with how you hunt. It's perfectly honourable.

Well happy days! I like to think its honourable myself...though some people called me a hick never the less. Not on the moot...when ever I struck up a convo with some city people and PETA people (didnt know what they were at the beginning). That and my West Virginian accent didn't do much for my case.

My dad was telling me about it, and I heard something on NPR about it.

Lions and buffalo! wow, thats a basis for a movie right there!

...reminds me of the movie Second Hand Lions. My uncle had "pet" cougar. I have a "pet" wolf back home who I really miss. And as for the buffalo...they are back up in decent numbers. Perhaps not into the millions as they were-think of waiting for a herd like that to walk across a train track.

Up on a rez with a bunch of my friends, we got to pat a few. Really humbles you to see how huge they are. I met one named potlicker, big ole bull who apperantly loves to knock over cooking pots and eat the contents clean.

Now, as for hunting, what do y'all think of native american whale hunting? When I was in seattle one year, greenpeace made such a huge hooplah about it. I remember one protester buzzed the longboats on a ski doo.

It's not the native americans I have a problem with, it's those infernal Japanese fishermen, and whomever else is responsible for wanton rare-animal slaughter - oil riggers come to mind, when they spill their disgusting oil all over the place, killing everything. And seine fishermen, catching absolutely everything that moves in the water and throwing away all the animals they don't want just to catch a few rare fish that they DO want. Human beings can be so freakin' LOW>

The way I see it, what the f*** else are the tribes supposed to feed themselves with? Look where they live, where they've lived for ages and ages. That is their homeland, and they know how to treat their own homeland and the animals that come with it.
