Ronald Reagan has died

I had some errands in Simi Valley today, and was driving right past the Reagan library, so I decided to stop by. I heard they were waiving admission fees (which are pretty small, anyway), and I was right. People were parking their cars on the long driveway up to the library and there were signs that there were shuttles available, but I didn't see any - people were just walking. I decided to go for the gusto and drive to the main lot - I have a handicapped parking placard for my son in the wheelchair - and we scored a parking place!

Lots of people at the library, but no lines at all. People are leaving flowers at the big bronze statue of Reagan near the entrance to the main building (that's where they're requesting the flowers to be left).

The burial site is lovely - simple yet elegant, and looks over some beautiful scenery. I should have wrote down the quote there - it's nice. Security was present but not obnoxious. They're doing some construction there - finishing up the building where one of the Air Force One planes will be retired. I've been to the AF-1 plane in Seattle - wow, I could sure go for travelling around in that plane! But the attendant responsibilites are a bit too heavy for my tastes.

Anyway, just thought I'd put in an update for anyone that's interested.
