Silm casting
Sean Connery as Ulmo is perfect, as for Feanor? with some thought, Jonny Depp works well. And Nicolas Cage as Sauron works for me too. Liam Neeson as Fingolfin I like, and Ian McCellan as Finwe, or an older Hugo Weaving

Beren: Ewan McGregor
Luthien: Diane Kruger Morwen: Jodie Foster Feanor: Johnny Depp Turin: Colin Ferral Hurin: Liam Neeson Thingol: Jeremy Irons Gwindor: David Thewlis Nienor: Scarlet Johansson just some ideas, of course though it should be mostly lesser known actors that should be used, but as they are lesser known, i dont know them. also i dont think anyone from the lotr movies should be used except for people like galadriel who could be played by the same actors

Yay for Depp as Fëanor!
As for Jeremy Irons, I'm a huge fan of him. But somehow I can't imagine him as Thingol.

Feanor's my fantasy Elf, so I feel personally obligated to interject my own ideas re: casting his role - I HATE Clive Owen, Christian Bale doesn't have the feeling of true artistic depth for me nor does he come across as very emotionally interesting; Jeff Goldblum - - ARE YOU KIDDING??!?!
Absolutely, absolutely Johnny Depp. His range is astounding, he's one of the few dramatic artists out there nowadays who naturally possesses true depth and variance, who is endlessly interesting and unpredictable, who is endowed with the right look in every way, etcetera ad nauseum. Feanor MUST be given to Johnny Depp. and, Nurvingiel - I agree - Cary Elwes is a good idea to play Fingon.

I was thinking Joaquin Pheonix would make a good Turin

Not sure if it's been mentioned but I think Russell Crowe would make quite a good Turin.

Do you have to read LOTR Trilogy to read the Silmarilion?

Answer to above enormous question: No.
In fact, theoretically no one "has" to do anything that they don't want to do. One's experience of the whole middle-earth scenario might be nicely enhanced, though, by reading the Sil first, then proceeding to Lord of the Rings, just because of the historically chronological aspect of it. But do whatever floats your boat.

This is Final Cast List, so...
for Nienna, I'd cast Isabelle Adjani. for Melian, Diane Lane.

If Bale were to do Fëanor I would only see Patrick Bateman.

Ok...not the best ever...but I laughed out loud that randomness and blatant out of context-ness...I'm still laughing.
You can't say it didn't make you laugh. Just blaring there in huge letters!
