Námo certainly is good, impo. He is after all one of the pure Holy Ones. He is grim, certainly, and far more concerned with justice than mercy, but I would not say that he was neutral.

Ok...
Yavanna - I feel kinda sorry for her after Ungoliant killed her trees... Melkor - He's not so bad! I mean, if someone tried to take over my world, I'd take it as a compliment. At least it's worthy of ruling! the Valar shoulda thought that way... Ulmo - just because he's cool. And I like rivers and things. Varda - Because stars are PRETTY! Lanelf.

Vana and Nessa, because they sound back... sound like a lot of fun, and probably can throw a party.
But... Orome... his bite is worse than his bark. And Ulmo for the same reasons, and because he never forsook the forsaken... ~ Connor |

Varda, because I have always loved stars. (Venus was really bright the other night, and I thought of Earendil in his ship.)
Also Manwë, because I like the part where Manwë grants Melkor pardon because he though that "the evil of Melkor was cured." I like how Tolkien describes Manwë - "For Manwë was free from evil, and could not comprehend it ... " Although he learned from hard experience later on that Melkor was NOT cured - "all love had departed from him for ever." And lots of others, but I have to go to work now... *sigh*

Ulmo was my favorite, because he did much to aid both Elves and men. Also, he learned more ofthe music of Iluvatar than his fellow Ainur.
A close second is Aule, who loved to create, but not possess.

Hello I'm Sparky.
I like Melkor best out of the Valar. I find him fascinating. You have to admit, he is a pretty interesting character.

I like: 1. Aule (e umlot) because he created the Dwarves, and how cool is that 2. Yavanna because I've always liked the white trees, and how they continued to the end of the third age and beyond. 3. Manwe because he got the ball rolling. |

I don't understand why you would like Melkor so much, though - are you just kind of being funny? He wanted to take over the world, but only for his own selfish and destructive motives. Welcome, new Entmooters!! Hope you enjoy it here. I'm almost at 100 posts!! Do I get a new title then?

i didnt like melkor at all he was only the greatest valar because of his deceit when it came down to it Tulkas put him in his place.
to choose a favorite is hard because they are all so awesome but.... i would have to go Aule because of the Dwarves what would middle earth be without dwarves. next would be ulmo and tulkas. |

Well, Melkor was certainly needed for the story, or it would be a lot shorter! As Tolkien says in the Hobbit:

I'm not sure which I like more, Ulmo or Varda. Sea and the stars.
Both are rather fitting (having been a sailor in real life). As to the Maiar, what about Olorin? |
