Ciao, guys. Well, I'm not sure how this game is supposed to work, but I PMed my own idea of what the word might mean, and now it has come to guessing in the open, I'll guess what I think it is - wait, is that how it's done? Before I say what I think it is in public, can someone tell me how this works? E,oR stated at Balderdash's beginning:
(E, LoR) I'm going to pick a word from the dictionary and then you guys are going to PM me with your definitions. Then I'm going to post the definitions. 1 pt if you guess the correct def. 2 pts if your def gets picked. So , how are we supposed to state stuff openly; is this a sort of game where we decide what the majority of other players have guessed? I kind of suck at games, so someone please tell me what's going on!

OK, so far you're good. You guess openly after the dasher (me now) has posted the definitions, and once everyone has guessed the dasher posts the points from that round. Whoever has the most is the next dasher, and we (I think) try to keep a cumulative total as well as each round.
Make sense?

Yes, I think so. So, this means, I out-loud guess now what other people might have guessed, or that I should guess out loud what I personally guessed? 'Cause I could speculate as to what others might have guessed, but it'll be different perhaps that what I personally guessed; capiche? well anyway.
I guessed, #4 - the last one, about animated advertsing.

Yeah, I think you got it.
You're not aloud to guess your own answer though. Quote:

If your guess is right you receive points as if you had guessed it aloud anyway. That's why you can't guess it.

O.K., well, I wouldn't have guessed in private to you what I think to be incorrect, so just as I thought in private, I think in public (as always! ), namely, that #4 must be correct. Sorry, I'm not so terrific at complicated sneaky out-foxing games. But I try. So, #4, that animavert means an animated advertisement such as we get popping up all the time on the internet. Dancing internet bears, and stuff like that. Hit the Badger, Shoot the Brad Pitt. Stuff like that. Animadverts.

Ooooohhh. Oh. Wait - so, I should have pretended to guess something that was what I might have thought the majority of guessers would come up with? Damn, sorry just still so confused... So, if I - or any - player guessed it right, does it count, or does what count the majority of types of guesses to one single definition? Damn, I am confused here.

Guess what you think the word means. That is, you know you made up one definition. Of the other ones, one of them might be it... guess which you think is (there are 4 - the 3 I was sent and the real one). Nothing to do with a majority.

Awe, Tessa. I'm glad you're playing and lets see if I could explain so you'll understand.
1.Someone puts up a word and anyone that wants to play sends said person a PM with a guess of what that word could mean. 2. After the person who put the word up gets enough definitions they will then choose, from the sent deffinitions in the PMs,a list of them with the correct definition in them. Wow, I hope that made sense. 3. we, the players, then choose the one we think is correct. If we sent the one that is correct, we automaticly get points for both having the right definition, and for our definition being used. That's why you can't pick your own def, you already got the points for it. 4. The scores are then posted and the person with the highest score picks the next word. Make sence?

I already guessed, to you in a PM - should I say it now again, in public? Just give me the go-ahead; I'm excited to do it! *waits for Anduril/Justin-Heem to pop in and interject something appropriately - well, Anduril-like at this juncture*
Anyway - just say the word, I'm waitin' -

Lotesse - you cannot guess your own definition.
Your guess is which of the definitions not your own you think is the correct definition of the word. Not putting all your eggs in one basket so to speak.

O.K. , thanks! O.k, let me think..
Animadvert: 1. noun: an angry inverted anime character 2. verb: criticize 3. verb: remark, usually critically 4. noun: a word to describe an advertisement that is animated O.k, this is hard, to try and guess what the majority of other players may have guessed. Ahh, let's see.. Maybe #2? Did most people think #2? So lost here. I wait for the conclusion to this round; maybe then things will make more sense to moi.

Yeah, it probably will. The object, though, is not to guess what we think the answer is, but what you yourself think it is.

O.K., but what I think it is, is what I PMed to Count already, that is, now that you guys are asking me in public what it is, then how come we even did PMs to begin with? I'm so confused! Anyway, but what I personally think the answer is, is #4.

Lotesse - as I said, the question is which of the ones you did not yourself come up with you think is most likely to be what a dictionary would say the definition is. That make sense?

Yeah, but I tend to think my definition is the right one! It's hard for me to sit here and try and pretend I think the actual definition is going to be something other than what I already told you I thought it was. I'm supposed to just randomly guess that it means something else other than what I think it means? I so do not understand this game.
O.K., I think a dictionary would say it was #4. A modern dictionary, anyway. Otherwise, I'm clueless as to what it means, or what a dictionary says it really means. Oh, so frustrated I could cry!!!!

I'll try again. Basically, very few people ever actually do guess the definition. So it is to be assumed that the definition you submit is not actually the definition (and if it is, you get the same number of points as if you later guessed that definition). Therefore, you guess (in this part of the game) the definition most likely to be the real one because the dasher (me) has put the real definition out there, so you know one of the definitions not submitted by you IS the real one.
In this case, 1, 2, or 3 is the real one, because you submitted 4. Which of those do you think most likely?
