(I suggest 'Ping', it sounds chinese, it is very close to the word 'penguin', and it's also a sound.)
But maybe we should take this to the Teacup, we're getting a bit too happy for the Venting thread.

lol, yep. Time for more venting, which I already did in Teacup. I'm just too lazy to move that post from there to here by posting it in here and then removing my response in teacup, oh well. Imagine that, too lazy to copy, paste, then remove the original post, but not too lazy to type all that stuff out. Oy vey...

*sigh* My piano accompanist overdrafted my account!!! >.< I thought that she had already deposited the check because I gave it to her three weeks ago, and I guess I just lost track... so apparently she deposited it yesterday afternoon and so my e-mail notification didn't alert me, and then they slapped me with an overdraft fee at midnight. Oh well.

[flustration] RAR! If you were a Blu-Ray disc of Disney's "Up" that my fiance got for me and now wants to watch on his new Christmas Blu-Ray drive, where would you be hiding???
I remember the last time I had it but I don't know what happened to it and I don't even remember dates! I think I know when it was given to me, but that's all! [continue flustration]

Ah! Haha! I get it!
All right! I will tell EVERYONE where Blu-Ray discs like to hide: in a computer case! Haha! Now the secret's out! If you don't hear from me for a long time, you'll know the Blu-Rays did me in for telling their secrets! Incidentally, Princess, my computer case was on the floor, which constitutes a down, but it wasn't in an ultimate down place like "downstairs".

And then quite suddenly you find you're about to lose everything your family has worked for, all for the greater glory of a power-hungry outsider. And all that stands between you and doom is a bunch of sheep.
I hate days like these.

Uh oh, sounds bad.
Is there any sort of animal rescue plan we can set in motion?

Well, it seems even the sheep doesn't even get a say. The board went behind everybody's back. Hypocrite bastards.
What has happened is basically a hostile take-over in the franchise. So unless by a very, very slim chance, we will be forced to sell our shops so the fat boss can sell the entire chain in one go and retire within the next years. At least the plan that was put forward today will see us being bought-out reasonably, instead of yesterday's plan where they would just throw us out with a vague promise of paying whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted. I'm still angry at being forced out. But we'll have to make the best of it, I suppose. For one, I won't ever have to deal with the head office's raging incompetence within two years... We'll know for sure within a couple of weeks.

Am I right to jump to the conclusion that this is affecting the boutique were you work? Is it a family business of sorts?
"Being forced out", does that mean you'll loose your employment? Well, I'm terribly sorry about this . I hope things will work out somehow.

Yes, it is a family business, I'm the fourth generation working there. And with being forced out I mean the head office wants to buy our boutique and will force us to sell it to them if the plan goes through, and that will result in us all ending up unemployed: mom, dad and I.
At least we have a good deal of time to get used to the idea and make plans. And that's a lot more than many others in these lousy economic times. But we weren't the only family in this shop-chain. So there will be a fair number of people my age who will see their future dreams of taking over the family business smashed by this dick-move. Funny how some people did say the world was going to end in 2012... We've had a long talk at home, and while we probably haven't processed all implications due to still being a bit in shock, I'm slightly hopeful we can weather this well enough, probably better than a few others. It's not going to be fun, at all. But it might just be bearable. I still want to kick a few people in the shins with steel-tipped shoes, though. And a little higher as well.
