Yes, like spending credit; being indebted. Creditum, "that which is believed", and you can instantly see the word credible or of credibility

And "creed", "credulous", etc.

You are extended credit because your ability to repay it is believed. "Credible", as it were. If your worth was in doubt, when you asked for a fiver, the bank would be "incredulous"

...cuddle?
I'm assuming not. The dress codes for the girls in catholic schools here MUST be designed as some sort of test of will and devotion to God for anyone with a pulse. Some of those skirts look like they'd suffice for maybe a small lampshade at best, with as little material and length as they have. I used to have Catholic schools surrounding my middle and my highschool; so I was treated to goodly view of legs every day. Not to mention the tight tops and goofy shoes. It just doesn't seem 'appropriate', OR practical; the poor birds have to wear that stuff in winter too. And every day I saw them shiver their asses to and from class while I was nice and warm in my jeans and sweaters an boots. For the very very very short duration that I went to a Catholic school I opted for the boys uniform. Needless to say, that school didn't last very long with me.

I see Sane has hauled things back roughly on topic, but please refrain from digressing into dictionary-itis .

Sane, just a general question: was there a rule stating that girls have to wear girl-uniforms and boys have to wear boy-uniforms?
Can they have such a rule you think? Equality and all...

Actually there was where I was at. But I broke it regardless. Dunno why, but some places restrict the unifroms between sexes. I can't say I've ever seen one of the lads go off wearing the girl's uniform. They'd die of exposure! Equality plays no part in these schools, so don't even bother bringing that up.

While my schools never had a uniform, I have had several jobs with one. This doesn't apply to schools, but as far as employment goes, jobs with uniforms are minimum-wage service jobs unless you're a mechanic or an airline pilot. Here's where I've worked: Tim Horton's Uniform: functional, bland taupe uniform. Includes pants, uncomfortable shoes, shirt, hat or visor and name-tag. Job enjoyment: This is the worst job I've ever had. I quit after only eight days to work at... Starbucks Uniform: None, it has a dress code like a real restaurant. Dress code is black long pants, black close-toed shoes, apron, white or black shirt with sleeves (short or long, but no c-cups) (this is for foodsafe reasons). Job enjoyment: Very high. Nando's Uniform: Nando's t-shirt, emblazoned with Nando's logo and terrible pun. (Dress code: black pants, black close-toed shoes.) Job enjoyment: Moderate. As you can see, there is a direct correlation between how anal a company is about the dress code and how much you will enjoy your job. So, what do you think of uniforms at jobs? Sometimes they make sense, such as mechanics wearing practical coveralls. Sometimes they seem to exist solely to cause employee suffering. Personally, I really don't care if everyone working at McDonald's is wearing identical shirts or not. This does not affect the quality of my food, or my perception of it.
