Yes; the wind thing was absolutely awesome. Should have had what's his name...the Flying Tomato...on it though.

I always get engaged in the Olympics because I love women's hockey down to the tips of my little Hobbit toes.

the trouble now is the red tape of the IOC which will try to take the gold away from the men's and the silver from the women's icehockey teams just because sponsors were shown on tv during the celebration in stockholm.

If the IOC takes your gold away just because one of your sponsors screwed up, I'm going to be ticked right off.

I already get very frustrated around the general corruption of the Olympics and other bullcrap peripheral to the actual sports, and this will only heap on more dislike for the IOC.

Taking away medals is for when athletes cheat by taking banned substances or trying to sneak in illegal equipment (like weighted bobsleighs). You don't take a medal away when a sponsor breaks the visible advertisement rule. It would be appropriate and fair to levy a fine at the guilty party/parties rather than punishing the blameless men's hockey team.

It seems like they aren't going to take the medal away though. I got that impression from a Swedish news board I sometimes visit.

You've misunderstood a few things. The IOC is not at all trying to take away the medals from the hockey teams. The thing is that the Swedish Olympic Committee got upset when the sponsors of the Swedish Hockey Association were shown on tv during the celebrations, instead of the Olympic sponsors. The committee stated that if they couldn't come to an agreemen with the hockey association, they would talk to the IOC which in a worst case scenario could deprive the hockey teams from their medals.

Nothing suggests that the Swedish Olympic Committee and the hockey association would not be able to come to an understanding so there's no real danger that the IOC will become involved. Even if they do, it would be quite drastic to take away the medals and I don't think the IOC would even want to go that far.

So if you ask me, the medals should be safe

I would think that IOC stands for International Olympics Committee.

Oh! But what is that? Do they figure out what sports they're going to play and whatnot?

Yes, and I think they also decide who gets the next Olympic games. They also set the limit to the amount of *cough* gifts you can bestow on the selection committee.
I think they also make the rules around drug testing, advertising, whether or not you can have pro athletes, etc.
