The goblets are $1.99 with any purchase. There is a little battery/light thingy in the base that you can remove to wash the glass(or if you just don't want a glowing goblet.)

my Tolkien-fan mother has already threatened me with a light-up Arwen goblet for Xmas if i'm bad...
and that burger poster is just despicable. i'd be OK with the idea of LotR toys, "collectible figures," or anything else if i was sure they'd do a good job on them - but too many times i've seen the bad things they do to Star Wars characters when making them into toys. (my high school's SF club used to have contests for who could find the worst-looking, worst-represented SW toy - i think the TOTALLY out-of-proportion Boba Fett from a Happy Meal during the rereleases of IV-VI won once...) it's hard enough to think of those dear Hobbits & Men & Elves as being ONSCREEN, i can't handle the idea of them as toys yet. <speech style="Wednesday Addams"> Boromir burgers? are they made from real Gondorim? </speech> whoever (Renille?) suggested T-shirts, that IMO would be a better way of accomplishing the inevitable merchandising. i'd wear a Gandalf shirt! besides, the toys seem like a ploy to get little kids into the movie - they're obviously (based on rating) not meant for little kids. IMO if you're not old enough to enjoy the book, don't see the movie. and not just for the terrifying scenes (kids are more resilient than Society gives them credit for) how ironic - a light-up goblet commercial is playing as i write this... and i think at 5'0 (& 19 years old), i could compete for "Shortest on the Board" aryne * Last edited by arynetrek : 12-09-2001 at 07:10 PM. |

I stumbled across this and thought that some would find it amusing:
Three drinks for the Burger Kings under the sky, Seven burgers for the Dwarves who are stoned, Ninety million consumers doomed to buy, One cut for the Dark Lord, the franchise he owns. In the land of Mordor where the Whoppers lie. Onion ring to rule them all, onion ring to dine them, Onion ring to bring them all and in the deep-fryer bind them In the land of Mordor where the Whoppers lie. |

At least I'm not the shortest-shortest! (Oh yes, I got my own age wrong...I'm 5'2" at 15 ...not 14.)
